Some more pictures.
A picture of the backside of the filter. It has a different texture than the front side.
This is the front side of the filter where the oil fumes will hit first. This filter seems very fine. I put my 1000 lumen LED flashlight up to the filter and the light barely showed...
Well, I received the new Ford Performance oil separator today. My initial impressions are that it's a very well made piece. The plastic that it is made of feels very solid. I'm not sure in the long term if it will get brittle and potentially crack but I doubt it is really a concern.
I did...
For me it would be GT or nothing. For performance cars I don't like 4 cylinders and I could care less about turbo chargers. I want the V8 sound and that is an important aspect to me. My previous car had a supercharged V6 in it and while it made decent power and was fairly fast, I still wanted...
Here is what I found in the exit line of my first new generation can.
This is how my first original set up looked like.
Here is the new set up that has the additional SS mesh ring.
If yours looks like the inside of the one that shows the exploded diagram in your link, then I can see why you might be getting oil in the exit line.
That looks just like the first version of their can other than the first version had a lot longer diffuser tube and had three perforated...
How new is your four chamber can? About a year ago when they first came out with this new generation can that sat on the radiator hose, I bought one. I got quite a bit of liquid oil in the fitting coming out of the can.
When they came out with the round stainless steel mesh ring that went on...
I have the firewall mounted four chamber UPR can for my 14 GT and I've had a couple of issues with mine that for now has been corrected.
The original O-ring that seals the top part of the can to the bottom of the can stretched out so you couldn't put the bottom on without pinching the O-ring...
The other question and to me the most important one, is how much oil is going to get through the screen. If you end up finding liquid oil in the exit hose and fitting at the intake, then you know it doesn't work very well. For example, using my Bob's or four chamber UPR, I only find a slight...
Thanks. My cam wires don't touch my cover so maybe my cover doesn't go down as far as yours.
How long are you going to drive yours before you check the outlet line to see if oil is getting past the screen?
This thing might not even fit under the engine cover on my 14 GT because the cutout in my cover is smaller than yours. How much did you have to take off the cover so it would fit? If I have to cut up my cover to make this work, I probably won't use the separator.
My 14 doesn't have that one...
Thanks for the inside picture. So I guess that the screen is the only thing used to prevent oil from going through to the intake? Does the screen come out? I'm not so sure I like this design. There also looks like there are gaps around the filter gasket that could allow oil to get past...
