I can't/won't speak for anyone else, but for me there's definitely some personal/sentimental value in this. I've always wanted a true Shelby American vehicle, and I've always wanted it to be on the Mustang platform. And it's just recently that I've been able to afford getting into that sphere...
Well itās officially in their hands. A 04:00am departure from SoCal this morning, and a quick 3:40 drive to Las Vegas, and Iāve dropped off my car with Shelby American.
Their loading docks were quite busy when I arrived. 3 transport trucks picking up 4 different Centennial Edition mustangs, and...
Agreed on all points. And Iām glad they left the fender liners with that design feature. Made it so much easier to cut them correctly when I installed the CF fenders on my car š. It would have been silly to install those things and not make the functional.
I went through a similar thought process, but it was after I had plunked down the deposit for the KR slot. I actually thought the new hood along with the vented front fenders might be too much, would look too over the top. But then I realized thatās crazy talk! Haha.
And honestly, the vented...
Thanks! Yeah that would be a lot of money to pay for a hood. And Iām not surprised they wouldnāt do the hood as a standalone. I was willing to pay them to paint and install those vented front fenders of mine during the conversion process, and that was a nonstarter of a conversation for them...
And this guy took the āPredatorā name quite literally with his car. Had speakers that played lines from the movie and Predator noises all the while.
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I do get to keep the CF wheels. Itāll be nice to have 2 sets of wheels finally.
Grabber Yellow looks great on the car, especially in the sun. Funny enough, I had never seen another S550, let alone a GT500 in the same color until a few weeks ago when I hit up a...
Thank your sir. I hope it goes smoothly as well. I figure without the wide body, and the fact that weāre so far removed from COVID shenanigans, that it should be ok. š¤
I decided against the wide body, wasnāt really my thing. I am getting painted stripes, the harness bar, and the aluminum coolant tank as options. Decided to keep the supercharger and wheels black. I didnāt think the polished look would go with my car color.
Iām also not having them do any...
After nearly 2 years of waiting, I get to drop off my GT500 with Shelby American for my King of the Road conversion next Monday.
I definitely am not going to be as badass as @Jmeoās car is, but itās going to fulfill a dream of mine to have a true Shelby. Hopefully itās as cool as I think itās...
Thanks for the insights. Yeah Iām last build slot for ā21ās, so I think itāll be awhile. Iām very excited for when it does go in though! Iāve got a feeling a Grabber Yellow KR is going to be super rare.
I also just installed the AC vented front fenders which look killer. I think theyāre going...
Firstly @Jmeo, your car is awesome. And I bet those Code Reds in person looked insane!
Could you tell if the KRās they had were a mix of model years or all from the same? Iām waiting on the call to bring my ā21 in for the conversion but they havenāt been very clear about whether theyāre...
With a different car comes a different mystery. My original 500 had the aforementioned noise that other people have gotten fixed with the steering parts.
My newer 500 now is making a squeaking noise when I steer left or right in a turn (not full deflection). But only after driving for about 10...
I would agree the Shelby wheels arenāt an upgrade over the carbon fiber ones. I confirmed I get to keep the Carbon fiber wheels when theyāre done. I figure I can keep the Shelby wheels on there for everyday driving and keep the carbon ones as a second set/if I go to a car show or to the track.
Iāve been on the waitlist for a ā21 KR slot for awhile. I got a call out of the blue today, a slot opened up and everyone on the waitlist in front of me said no. Iām 90% sure Iām going to do it; they said I could have till tomorrow to decide.
The wheels are a very important component that make the care what it is. I was looking at a used '21 CFTP before I ended up buying my Grabber Yellow one 2 weeks ago. The used one had 2,000 miles on it and was unmodified, except it didn't have the carbon fiber wheels. I just couldn't do it. The...
