Update. Did two days. Brakes held up fine. I did get a lot of brake smell, especially in earlier sessions where I wasn't as smooth and hit the brakes hard. The instructor was worried about the brakes when I said they were stock. At the end of day one, she commented that the stock brakes were...
Thanks again all. I am leaning towards not touching anything before this track day. Living near Buffalo NY , there will be plenty of time to make changes this winter. I selected CHIN as I heard their one on one instructor for the novice drivers is good. I've been to Watkins Glen as a...
Thanks all. Its the CHIN track day at Watkins Glen, Monday & Tuesday. I have a slew of modifications to do over the winter for next summer. Picked up a new race/track helmet. I am trying to understand how camber plates work, and maybe a second set of wheels and tires so I can optimize track...
I registered for my first track day HPDE at Watkins Glen this weekend. I travel extensively for work and will actually be home for this weekends event. The good news is that they had a spot open and I am signed up. Bad news is that I haven't done anything to the car since I picked it up from...
There is a poster I saw showing rear views of the evolution of the 911 from '63 to 2023. The car has grown in every dimension except height. Cool poster. the green house hasn't changed much in 60 years, but everything else has grown.
There are tags and stickers to tell dealer to remove them too. So no excuse. I wish I would have saved mine. Dealer I ordered from was great. I wanted NO dealer prep except removal of those shipping blocks. Hence, I didn't have a chance to grab them.
I kept all the stickers and hang tags...
Thanks all. I will make an appointment for an oil change. Now to prepare myself for the typewriter tick everyone gets after the first oil change. Lets see if that happens.
So I get in my 2023 Mach 1 yesterday to get it out of its winter hibernation. The Change Oil message came on. What is the algorithm used to determine oil change? The car has 1500 miles but I have had it just over a year. So I can see that there may be a time component to calculating the oil...
When I did the Track Attack I was in awe on the colors. I almost wish I could have walked through the paddock before I picked a color. The yellow was something I would have not considered but looked great on the Mach 1. Race Red was a consideration, as was black. After seeing the cars, I am...
I don't really have a nickname for the car per se, but I used my kids tuition to buy the car since they decided to drop out of college. So I joke the car is "my kids tuition". I tried a personal plate to say something like KDZ2SHN, but all the variations I can come up with seem to be taken.
I think one of the large suppliers has a video. Either Steeda or CJ Pony Parts. I watched it a couple of times as I am contemplating the four point bar too.
Found it. Was LMR.
My only regret is not getting Recaro seats. At time that I ordered it, the seat availability was a concern and I didn't want delay. I am half effort looking for Recaro in leather to bolt in if I decide to do track days. Otherwise, I will live with the comfy seats which aren't bad in support...
Yes, a manual. Car has 1500 miles. I doubt its had a chance to get too dirty. I will see if I can fish some out. I was toying on replacing fluid with Motul so it would get a flush. The reservoir separation is a good idea that I may implement.
