As far as weight and size, I am disappointed with the S550. But I am disappointed with Chevy and Dodge for that with their cars too.
In regards to comparisons -- it is completely silly for anyone to say the S550 is a disappointment compared to the new Camaro that is coming out over a year...
Yep, I work in the insurance industry. Not auto, but property, and the principals are the same. The point of the insurance company is to indemnify you after a loss. You need to be made exactly how you were before the loss.
Contrary to popular belief(and a belief I held prior to working in...
For a car that "should" have 200 hp/tq more than the GTR? Yes, I think so, though I don't know for sure.
It may cost a little less than it cost Nissan, but they still have to develop the tech, or buy it from someone. I suspect it wouldn't be cheap when it would be going in a car that would...
First, you should compare a 14 to 14, apples to apples. Second, Nissan may measure their cars different than Ford -- if you look at Edmunds or similar, they weigh using the same methods. The GTR was a little over 100lbs lighter as tested. At this point we are arguing a weight difference that...
Who cares? Most of the people that pay over $60k to be the fastest on the street.
I agree that fun is worth more, but a company shouldn't ignore the folks that just want to be faster than the other guy just because they want the guys who like stick better to have more fun.
This. If Ford wants a GT500 variant to stay competitive with the Hellcat, and whatever Chevy will do with the Camaro, they need to put in an auto with more gears. Manuals are basically fun factor only.
Actually the GTR is 100+ lbs. lighter than the GT500, has the most advanced driver and launch aids out of almost any car you can buy today, and has closer gear ratios.
Not saying the AWD doesn't help, but there is much more to it than just that. Nissan loses money on that car and it cost...
If one wants to go as fast as possible in a straight line, a 10spd auto is going to be faster than any manual. The Hellcat twins can be had with an 8spd auto -- they are super fast for a 4300lb car, the demand has been so crazy FCA can't build them fast enough, and they are hardly like a GTR...
People are confusing cruising at 3- 4k with shifting at 3-4k. The OP is talking about cruising. If you are cruising around town at 3 - 4k rpm, yes, there is added wear/tear on your vehicle. Is it much? Probably not that you will notice.
Based on the responses, it seems to be the opinion...
The Jeep dealership out by me removes/adds things all the time at the customers request.
It may be messy and hard to keep track of as far as what the car has compared to the sticker, but I don't think it is illegal. I just don't think the dealer wants to mess with it. Swapping things out is...
Unfortunately kids have far less respect for peoples stuff these days than in the past, and it is only getting worse. A side effect of parents letting TV and video games do the babysitting.
My '92 stays in the garage -- however, when the punks mess with my Jeep in the driveway, the Stang keys...
My dad always told me everyone said the same thing back in the 60's and 70's. They built/sold 1.1M+ Mustangs in 1965 and 1966 -- yet here we are, 50 years later...
I agree 100% that cars should be driven not stored, but with much lower production numbers today, and the attitude that cars will...
I have a fast car that is almost finished, and a slow vehicle -- best of both worlds.
1992 5.0LX SSP, 306, TFS stage II heads, cam, and intake, Vortech V-1, methanol injection.
Jeep is a 2000 TJ, 2" lift, full size Ford axles, 6" stretched wheelbase, 37" tires, full armor.
Yep, and so did the Saleen's. No one called them "rice" that I ever saw. Not sure why they are now, especially when we have been getting fake scoops since the 60's. To not like them is one thing, but they are hardly "rice".
If you don't like fake scoops, then you don't like fake scoops -- I don't. I personally think it is the biggest mistake with the new Roush, especially the terrible hood scoop. But is that stuff really "ricey"? I mean, it is certainly disappointing you pay so much for a car like the Roush...
The 1965 has a 108" WB at 181" long.
Longer wheelbase does not mean you need to make the car longer overall -- it is the job of the engineer to figure that out -- and less overhang would definitely be nice on the Mustang anyways. The less weight you have hanging out front and rear, the better.
