If the Z/28 isn't legal to race in SCCA then why is it listed as a T1-LP car on page 808 of the 2014 SCCA GCR?

I don’t think it will beat a 991 GT3 at the Ring, but I think it will be close.
If you take the Autoweek test at Barber referenced above as being representative of the Ring you can make a projection. The Ring is 5.43 times as long as Barber, which equates to 5.43 laps around Barber. If...
I haven’t seen a 991 GT3 Nurburgring time yet. Porsche probably needs to sort out the engine fire problem first. Conventional wisdom is that the two cars will be pretty close under similar track conditions.
Autoweek tested the 991 GT3 against the Z/28 at Barber with the GT3 beating the...
You post a lot on the importance of OEM and “near OEM” in racing.
Here’s a car that literally can be driven from the showroom to a cage builder and from there straight onto the front row of the grid in NASA. No other mods required, which is pretty much unheard of in modern racing.
If...
I’m impressed you found the rulebook. Too bad you can’t understand it. Weight includes driver. HP is RWHP as proved on a dyno. See my calculation above for the correct numbers.
3,862 + 175 for driver = 4,037 lbs
505 crank hp * .85 for drivetrain loss = 429.25 estimated RWHP
Estimated lbs/hp ratio = 9.4
ST3 is for ANY closed wheel car that meets the lbs/hp requirement regardless of mods or lack thereof. Heavy car with lots of power, no problem...
OK, then here are some facts.
At its stock weight and power the Z/28 slots into NASA's ST3 class - a class it can run right out of the box with nothing more than safety mods. NASA ran at Barber in mid February on the new surface with ambient temperatures slightly warmer than the Z/28 test...
Using your vast knowledge of motor racing in general, and Barber Motorsports Park specifically, what would be a good time for a 505 hp car on R tires with ambient temps in the 30’s?
It will slot somewhere, we just don't know where. ST3 will probably be easiest, but ST2 may be doable for someone who wants to get aggressive with power and weight mods. In the end this will be up to the owners to decide which way they want to go. Some may choose ST3, and others ST2.
The classes are based on weight to RWHP. Since nobody knows exactly how much the car will weigh or how it will dyno it is impossible to say at this point. Also you are free to mod the weight and horsepower to get you into the sweet spot of your chosen class.
Everything you need to know can be found here for the class:

And here for required safety mods:

Once again you continue to be fact challenged. Per the 2013 SCCA General Competition Rules - page 111 - “9.4. ROLL CAGES FOR GT AND PRODUCTION BASED CARS - All cars must utilize a roll cage compliant with the following specifica*tions…”
In the most simple terms, you can’t run an SCCA road...
Yes, it will be accepted in ST and SU. Why is this so hard to understand? Are you delusional? NASA prides itself on having a class for every production car, and those are the classes where it fits. No acceptance required. You show up with a comp license, and a car that conforms to NASA’s...
Who said anything about Performance Touring? That's a completely separate class from Super Touring. Also, you're the one who brought up American Iron, another completely separate class.
And yes, the Z28 interior will look like that after you take it to a good cage builder.
