Hey, someone close to me. White PP2 car eh? I'm betting it was you I saw leaving Safeway last week, you were two cars behind me turning onto 301. I live down in Port Tobacco.
The Level 2 cars are sweet. I wanted one, but was too impatient to wait for them to start showing up.
I have it, and use it often enough. usually for pulling codes/and clearing them. The only time I use it while driving is in the wifes explorer while towing, or driving on the beach to keep an eye on trans temp.
I love the manual in mine, the gear ratios are way more fun than the 16GT PP I had prior. I love that 2nd hits 75mph now. The trans is also super smooth.
FYI, I didn't care about the active exhaust either (and I also skipped it) but having since heard it in person I kind of wish I hadn't...
Nope. I daily my 18GT, including hauling two kids around every morning (school and daycare), getting groceries, driving in the snow, etc. Does it involve compromises? Of course. Putting kids in the back without a rear door can be a pain, but it's worth it to me. I'm willing to put up with...
There was nothing underneath that I noticed when swapping my exhaust. There is another guy local that has an active setup though, and he already took his stock stuff off. I'm going to go collect it. If this ends up being a reasonably easy mod, I'll end up doing it.
I haven't driven another to see if I can hear it on any new ones yet. I'll see if I can't do that before too long, maybe next Friday. I also haven't had time to mount my camera under the hood to get a better listen to the noise, but I plan to do that too. I can also drop a bore scope down one...
Yeah I believe it. I had it up close to 3k and it was still bogging, but I was having a hard time getting a good feel for how much slip it wanted. My drag racing skills are crazy rusty, and it shows.
Yeah I was able to get it to repeat again today going from 2nd->3rd at around 5500. Just regular speed shift and it's a quick buzz that I can hear and feel. Until I saw this thread I'd just assumed it was the dual mass flywheel getting smacked hard over to the limit under high load. 99% of...
Interesting. My car has done this exactly once, at around 4500 rpm. Sounded identical, and I could feel it in the pedal. I just assumed it was the dual mass flywheel getting slapped around that I felt. I'll post up if mine starts becoming common.
Funny you ask that. So I noticed after a few passes that in drag mode LC was active. I've never tried it before, and I didn't want a prepped track surface to be the first place I did. The 18 definitely needs a fair bit more RPM to get off the line clean than my 16GT did though. I made a few...
You sure as hell did way better than I did. I took mine down to MIR yesterday to try my hand at it. It's been many years since I went regularly, and it showed. I was never great at it, but yesterday I was down right terrible. I could not get a good feel for the clutch getting out of the hole...
Interesting..where did you come across that tidbit? I'm guessing that'll end up being a TSB for folks that encounter this failure. I'm on the S550 groups on FB and I haven't seen any posts about this yet.
Prior to losing the gear, did you get any indication that the shift fork was cracked?
I've gotten good pricing from Koons before too. Also Waldorf and Sheehy. In fact, I've gotten my last 3 vehicles from one of each. I got my 13 Focus ST from Waldorf, who beat out Koons on pricing.
I got my 16GT from Koons who beat out everyone, and my 18GT from Sheehy who did the same...
Really? I strongly prefer the radio buttons on the left. My BMW's buttons were over there, and I never could understand why ford did the opposite. I NEVER used the steering wheel buttons on my mustangs until now, because I drive a stick and my right hand is always next to the radio anyway. So...
When I had mine in for the oil leak, I asked about this rattle. They heard it, and said it was normal. Didn't give me any explanation though, nor did they document that they heard it, but unless there is a really high number of bad engines on this site, I suspect it's probably just DI noise...
You can hear the rattle in this video right around a minute 30. I've heard it in MANY 2018 Mustang review videos. I suspect what most of us are hearing is totally normal.
