I think Ford can make the car lighter with extra aluminum contents but that will affect the bottom line. All these supposed "leaks" were meant to get a feel of the customers responses.
I actually think even the base GT engine might have an edge vs. the C7 Corvette especially at high rpm. An proper NA 5.0 V8 cannot be underestimated. Remember the Corvette is a pushrod with only 6.5K rpm. A 3.0L straight six turbo is still a straight six and could have heat issue at extend...

1. 5.8 supercharge from the GT500
2. bored out 5.2L with 520hp
3. TT V6 eco boost
4. Flat crank 5.0 (though unlikely now)
Do we know how much the GT weighs with the PP package? I thought it's mostly speculation.
Was 3300lbs with full tank of fuel? How much does Z51 add to the weight? Can the Z51 package alone add 144lbs?

The V6 weighs nearly the same as the 2014 model which means whatever weight gain has to come from the rear. And since the IRS and wider rear track contribute to most of the weight gains, that means a lot of the weight has been pushed back to the rear. The 2014 V8 weight distribution is around...

The C7 base starts at around 52K. If the GT350 starts at 54K, it will better have at least the same performance as the C7. I am not sure most people will spend the same money for less performance. Also the GT350 will probably have the rear seats removed so the 2+2 advantage won't be there.
Personally I don't see the logic that Ford went through all that trouble to redesign the whole chassis with supposedly "thousands of hours of computer simulations" and somehow gained more weight. It's like someone trying to pay more for a V6 than a V8 GT.
