Ford actually has DCT but only offered for the Fiesta and Focus for good reason because it doesn't have to handle much power and does not have to pull any heavy loads since those cars are pretty light.
I don't see a DCT making any economic sense for a $35K car with 450hp. The Nissan DCT has...
Ford is actually pretty big in the UK. It is the #2 car maker behind VW in the European continent. I remember Ford was voted on Top Gear show as #3 in term of making the most great cars in history behind either BMW or VW.
I have a M3 with SMG and it's not that bad. My friend has a M5 V10 with SMG and it's totally acceptable and the car actually feels more refine than most so called family sedans. People who usually complain about SMG are those who has never driven one. With faster and more affordable computer...
Something about the vid that is very comical too. I was laughing all the way through. Like the driver was late for an appointment or something and tried hard to get there on-time.
DCT has two smaller clutches therefore may not be able to handle the torque of the larger V8 without extra cost. I think a better alternative is using something similar to BMW SMG. It is basically a regular stock manual but with a clutch operated by some type of hydraulic or motor. Sure the...
Is there any validity to the so called "rotational mass"? Supposed you can save 4lbs per wheel. That's 32lbs total but those are rotational mass and not stationary. That means the amount of acceleration experienced by rotational mass is a lot more vs. stationary mass which ultimately affect...
Lighter battery, CF hood, CF trunk, CF roof (though difficult to install), seat, CF drive shaft, CF front brakes ($8K), CF engine intake.
But one has to weigh the cost vs. benefit. I at least want to wait for the GT350 to see how much it will cost and how much weight will be reduced by Ford...
The Corvette C7 and C6 0-60 and 0-100 are very similar, but the C7 quite a bit better car overall. I don't expect the 2015 to be any faster in straight line - may be a bit more due to better rear traction and better under-the-curve power of the new 5.0. Overall it should be a much better car...
The C7 is a fraction faster than the current Carrera 4S at Laguna Seca. The M4 lap time on the ring is supposedly about 7:52. The C7 should be a bit faster than that.
I am sure there will be after market for that eventually. To go even a bit further, if one is on a budget, I would just buy a basic GT then upgrade bit by bit as you go.
The weight of the new Cadillac ATS coupe in V6 trim is about 3600lbs - 3700lbs depending on RWD or AWD config. Since the Camaro will be based on the same chassis and being slightly larger than the ATS coupe, and with a V8, my guess is around 3850lbs?
ATS coupe weight information comes from...
I would test drive the Mustang before making any decision. I think the 2015 GT should be faster than the 2009 S, but the unknown is if the GT will feel sophisticated enough compared to the S. The GT has a trump card though which will be the 5.0 V8 which is hard to beat much more powerful than...
