I was on the Coevette Forum (I had an 05 C6) when someone posted the Car and Driver article that picked the GT350 over the Vette in a comparison test. Guys went bonkers there. I waited until 2017 and prices came down. I only saw one on the road in all that time. I have never regretted the...
It’s sad to see the end of the manual transmission coming, but I think it’s inevitable. My wife is a retired FedEx and USAF pilot. She used to keep a car in Memphis - econobox with a 5 speed. She let her friends borrow it as needed (lots of FedEx pilots don’t live in Memphis but need to be...
The first time the laser detector went off in my Valentine, it was a complete save. Driving my new C6 home to Texas, I was on the interstate in NY and a trooper in the median lased a minivan in the left lane. The warning was so loud that I lifted off and by the time he swung it over to me in...
Just based on my sport bike experiences, if you want max performance you have to keep the revs up. Those little engines that spin to 14000+ rpm’s have to be kept boiling, as their torque and HP both plummet as revs drop. The Voodoo is only slightly less extreme than those motors.
I drive a 1999 F250 crew cab with a V10 and 5 speed manual. Purchased new and user over 152K miles. It’s been pretty much bulletproof and at this point I can replace the engine for a fraction on the cost of a new truck. Based on my current annual miles I’ll be too old to climb up in it before...
Currently own the 17 GT350 and a 15 Escape. Both have keyless start and I’d sure like to use a phone app in lieu of carrying the fobs. I didn’t find anything in a forum search but Google showed conflicting info on whether or not the FordPass app can do it. Can anyone enlighten me?
Oh, man, Sorry. My F250 has killed 6 deer (in 19 years). My Shelby has been OK but one morning a whitetail doe ran into the driver’s door of my C6 at full speed. Destroyed the mirror and all the interior parts. We sometimes have to wait on the driveway for the deer to get out of the way...
I wish Texas would go the same way. And dump inspections.
I’ve had a half dozen written warnings, but never been ticketed. 12 years with my C6 and 2 with my GT350 and no tickets yet.
About 25 years ago Autoweek posted a cover photo of a new Ferrari (that was tested in the issue) coming out of an automated car wash. A couple of issues later they posted a couple of pages of letters about what horrible people they were and how badly they mistreated the car. At the end the...
When I had my C6 there were a couple of guys like that on one of the big Corvette forums - posted obsessively about how terrible the quality was. Why not sell the car and make yourself happy?
Great responses, guys. I also consider myself more of a car guy - I just sort of found myself in this spot. We still own a Miata, Samurai, and VW Thing (I call them my wife’s Ghost fleet). The bikes morphed over the years from all Hondas to one Honda, one Suzuki, and two Yamahas.
Cars have...
Are you a Ford guy?
The Raptor thread got me thinking about this. I was never much of a brand loyalist for cars (although we owned nothing but Honda motorcycles for a long time). In 1999 I bought our first Ford, a Super Duty Crew Cab with a V10 and 5 speed manual (had to special order it). I...
