Took mine out yesterday since it was record highs 65F. It's been awhile since I drove her, it's such an amazing car. Oil temp reached 205F :headbang:
It's scary fast! Big winter storm coming Friday, will have to wait for the next warm day to drive her.
So more than likely it was debris from the first oil change that was on the o ring. I'm still going to buy a handful since they are so cheap. I can't rely the dealer to clean the o ring.
This is my first performance car so I'm not aware of vehicles recommending replacing the drain plug. Cars I've owned the plug last the life of the car. If it's common in other performance cars then Ford really needs to recommend replacing it every oil change if it only good for one insertion.
I plan to buy 5 or 6 plugs, but in my opinion it's ridiculous you need to replace the drain plug every oil change even though it's inexpensive. Seems like a design problem to me, either with the o ring or the plug. Just another quirk about this car that you have to know and pay attention to...
I'm at the dealership now. It's the drain plug, got to look at it on the lift. They are going to replace it. I told them to change the oil. He didn't want to do it, he just wanted to add oil. I told him I don't want you to guess how much to put back in. That's when I said let's talk to the...
Noticed an oil leak today in the garage (a small amount). Appears to be coming from the drain plug on the oil pan. To me it appears the plug is not fully seated. Taking it back to the dealership tomorrow. Need your expertise on if you think the plug is not fully seated.
Very frustrating...
Thanks for the heads-up, I'm going to call the dealership and let them know they need to inspect the part closely. I'll tell them to make sure the boot doesn't have any tears or cracks. They said the part will be delivered Wednesday and I scheduled the replacement on Friday.
Thanks, I'll search it here. I first googled it when I was at the dealership and saw one on a different forum from a 2016 model with 350 miles on it. Just another thing to keep an eye on with this car.
