  1. Ford performance exhaust.

As far as weight goes, every 100 pounds is a tenth of a second in the quarter mile. For power I don't remember the number it takes but I believe it's north of 20hp.
  2. Los Angeles Register Review (GT & EcoBoost)

It's very likely these cars were driven in the same manner. Now maybe some GT diehards will be able to see where fuel economy benefits are found in the EcoBoost.
  3. Ecoboost Tune

I forever hate Vince for killing Billy Mays
  4. Car and Driver Review (EcoBoost)

The difference with the 3.7 though is the torque. Stock the EcoBoost likely won't hit 5 seconds to 60 but I bet it could be damn close to 13.6 ET with the right driver shifting it right. The way the curves look on the dyno graph for it, I can see quite a bit of time being made with short...
  5. MotorTrend Review (EcoBoost)

Only the exhaust manifold itself is built into the cylinder head. The turbine housing bolts to the manifold. All it would take for a turbo swap would be to have an adapter that bolts to the exhaust manifold with whatever style flange you need for your turbo. Don't expect to see anywhere near...
  6. Car and Driver Review (EcoBoost)

^^^I'm not so sure about that. It would be great to see nontheless
  7. Ecoboost Tune

Even 400hp at the flywheel is going to be a bit of a stretch. I do believe FRPP will release a warranty approved tune, but it will then be an FRPP drivetrain warranty, and not the original Ford warranty
  8. Car and Driver Review (EcoBoost)

Not to mention the fact the the PP cars with the 3.55 rears will likely return slightly worse fuel economy than the standard cars, at least on the highway. The argument could really go either way around town though. Staying out of boost is the key. It's not that hard once you figure out how it...
  9. 2014/15 Fiesta 1.0L EB or 2015 Focus 1.0L EB

I think they do this to keep the interior light and make it feel more open. I could be wrong
  10. Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on the S550

Adding one last thing to the DRL topic. We did just fine driving around for 80+ years without DRLs before. Now because people have no common sense we have to make cars to the point that they basically drive themselves.
  11. Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on the S550

Yeah I don't mind the newer designs of them, I just feel they are aiding in people becoming more lazy behind the wheel. Our drivers education system really needs to improve. The simplest things a driver can do(or sheer common sense) are being ignored. It's pretty easy to judge when you should...
  12. 2014/15 Fiesta 1.0L EB or 2015 Focus 1.0L EB

I would never recommend adding a CVT. Those things are horrendous.
  13. Think this would be a nice adder to the Ecoboost

The early GT Turbo Mustangs were not intercooled. I'm sure there are other low hp/low boost applications that were not intercooled. I'm not sure of your point though. My point was those scoops were functional while ones added to the S550 would not be as they use far more efficient intercooler...
  14. Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on the S550

This is why DRLs are ultimately pointless. People get so used to them that they no longer notice them, thus it negates any added visibility benefit they would have had. I honestly don't mind DRLs as long as they are separate lights from the signals or headlight bulbs. I couldn't tell you how...
  15. Ecoboost mod list

Yeah, you'd ideally want to alter the tune for any change you make to make the most benefit from it. My point is that from a standalone flow perspective, it's not that big of a difference.
  16. 2014/15 Fiesta 1.0L EB or 2015 Focus 1.0L EB

Sterling, the Fiesta needs a 6-speed manual for both the NA 1.6L and the 1.0L EcoBoost. The single biggest complain I've heard from 1.0L Fiesta owners is the gearing is too long.
  17. Turbo motors more expensive to maintain?

I brought up turbo diesels because they will run for a far longer period before a failure occurs than a gasoline engine will, while being turbocharged. Most people don't own cars for 300,000+ miles. I'm saying I bet you don't see those turbos fail until several hundred thousand miles on them...
  18. Ecoboost mod list

It's one thing when you alter the tune for catless vs. catted though. It's a whole other on no change in tune, simply cat vs. no cat. 15hp when you're at levels exceeding 275whp feels less and less significant. Most of the time, it's barely noticeable. On a car making 100whp, 15hp is...
  19. Think this would be a nice adder to the Ecoboost

This. The SVOs and Turbo Coupes(along with Subarus, Nissans, and Mazdas) used those scoops to feed top mount intercoolers. The front mount intercoolers used on the EcoBoosts are far more efficient, so no scoops would be needed. Extractors would have to be designed in a way to be functional in...
  20. 2014/15 Fiesta 1.0L EB or 2015 Focus 1.0L EB

I only wish that the 6-speed manual used in the Focus would find its way to the Fiesta for the 1.0L
