Drew, thanks for the pointer. I did not find the word sequential transmission, but the site led me to this great article about how Ricardo designed and built the 6 speed manual transmission for the 2002 Ford GT...
Thanks for the info re the Ford GT race car's box. I assume you have that from a reliable source.
I added the :D to my last statement to tip the reader to J_Maher's spelling of LeMons instead of Le Mans. Since you are from Japan and may not know about LeMons racing, here is a pointer...
Yes Voodoo! I get all that. The Alpha has some real advantages over the S550 and the S650 will not be here until 2020. Agreed!
I am sure that is not new news to Ford and company. They still seem very much ready to push forward with a GT4 standard for racing beginning in 2017, not when the S650...
Assuming exclusivity and investment value are not part of the above reasoning, it sounds like you are suggesting that Ford, Multimatic, Roush and others cannot continue to enhance and win with the S550 GT350 FPC until the S650 arrives, and therefore should get out of GT4 racing while they are...
I don't know the answer.
Whenever I have seen any reference to the DCT in the Ford GT, there was no mention of whether it was exclusive to the race car or the street car. It was definitely referenced with regard to the street car.
I do recall though that when CGR was having transmission...
For anyone who has not heard an in-car video of a Ford GT going up and down through the gears with it's DCT transmission check this out.

Now instead of the EBV6, imagine the sound of the 5.2 FPC with a DCT at 8200RPM.
Here is an interesting post from Camaro6 about shift speed for DCTs vs automatics.
Here is some info to think about.
Quote:
Shift times / shift speed for transmissions including automatic, DSG, DCT, SMG, SMGII, dual...
I voted for the GT350 name for these main reasons.
- An S550 with a FPC is by definition a GT350.
- Ford and Multimatic have already established a winning record for the GT350R-C. Why would they want to change that name?
- GT350 was established as a factory supported race car, not just as a 2...
Assumptions:
- Ford Performance is committed to OEM and Turn Key racing until at least 2019 as demonstrated by their Ford GT announcement.
- Ford and Porsche are supporting IMSA, PWC, and FIA in establishing a unified GT4 racing specifications worldwide.
- Ford will continue to homologate and...
Here is another circular reference to the 2018 GT350 with DCT

It quotes the Jalopnik article.
I have attended many MCA events where people like Dave Pericak clearly demonstrate their desire to please the loyal Mustang enthusiasts. That doesn't mean though that they will make business decisions that always appear exclusively in the fans best interest.
I think that continuing to focus on...
The 6952 Mustangs and 6835 Camaros are a US + Canada number which puts the Mustang ahead by 117 for September for only the top half of NA. I cannot find numbers for anything south of the US/Mexico border.
Mustangs in 2016 have been outselling Camaros in Canada by 3:1. It dropped to 2:1 for...
The Mustang hobby is not about any one model. It is about the whole history of Pony Cars and enjoying what makes you happy. Exclusivity discussions about the GT350 is becoming excessive. That word should be banned from Mustang6G and used only on Camaro6 where it is used to defend poor sales.
I...
FIA GT4 regulations was my first thought when I saw this thread.
Multimatic may have been where the idea for a DCT for the GT350R-C started and making it available as an option (although expensive) for the GT350R could be a requirement for homologation.
Worrying about the manual GT350 going...
I can somewhat sympathize with those who wanted Ford to stick to 2 years for the GT350 so that their car would be worth more one day and they could get over the ADM that they paid.
BUT things changed.
-Ford built the Ford GT and won Le Mans and placed 2nd in IMSA WEC Team and Manufacturer...
No one is suggesting that the GT350 nor FPC should stay the same for 10 years. Nothing stays the same for a decade anymore. ICEs might even be banned from racing by 2026.
I am not one to cheer for exclusivity, and I don't think exclusivity was the reason Ford invested in the FPC. I would...
I don't agree J_. The GT350R-C FPC is BOP limited in IMSA GS racing, and possibly to an unfair disadvantage against the much lighter Porsche GT4. All things being equal, wouldn't the Aluminator be just as BOP limited?
I would prefer to see Ford continue to develop the Ford exclusive FPC engine...
