Understood, but it failed in the same manner that the earlier cartridge filter failed, which could also have been due to improper installation as you'll note that both cartridge filters and the cartridge housing had the same issue, collapsed filter and broken internal flange at the bottom.

Correct. But there have been problems with some of the newer cannister filters collapsing internally.

If you need a new canister housing hopefully it doesn't take too long to get to you.
