So what is your message here? I'm not trying to call you out but what does perfectly fine but not optimal mean? Yes my owners manual says the car will run on 87 but 91 is recommended for maximum engine performance. I didn't buy this car so I could cheap out and use fuel that the engine has to...
I don't want to get into a bun fight here but that is not correct. Both fuel and spark follow a preprogrammed table based on engine rpm, throttle position and MAP sensor (engine load). As long as there is no knocking it will follow the table, which has a maximum value. It does not keep going...
The fact that it says in the owners manual that some pinging is normal means no, we are not exaggerating. But it's really up to the owner to decide if it matters to them. I myself am willing to pay the higher price for 91 so I don't have to listen to it. Honesty the way I drive I would never...
I guess the question about the octane lays with what are you ok with? I normally buy 91 octane but I was taking a drive to visit some friends who are about 5 hours away. I thought since I would use most of a tank of gas I'd just buy 87 for that trip. To get there I needed to cross through a...
So I'm a bit confused. If you have the donor car VIN number can't you track what it is exactly? From what I know even savage yards have to record VIN numbers in case of getting stolen cars.
One of the members here on the forum can get you the window sticker if you give him the VIN number...
Can you get a decent view of the full casting number on the block? If so Ford must be able to give you the year and type of car it was first put in. I tried a google search to decode casting number and the sites I found all focused on the 1960's through the 1990's.
I completely agree with this. These engines are loud and make noises that pushrod V8's never made. Add in that the Mach 1's don't get the engine cover that the GT's get is just going to make it seem louder.
I don't have anything to add other then this whole thing really sucks. Unless you can afford a new car you really are taking your chances, even when buying through a dealer. Good luck to you sir.
Anyone who thinks car quality has gone backwards is either very young or looking through rose colored glasses. Cars almost never made it past 100,000 miles and if it did it would be on it's third alternator, second water pump, probably had the lifters replaced and maybe a valve job. Oh, and on...
I'm curious as well. Although I have come to believe they're suggesting the driver learn to adapt to how the transmission shifts. I have never noticed any "learning" from any vehicle I've owned that said it had adaptive learning.
Why can't we just go back to the days that you need a real key that has a computer chip in it. Who asked for all this proximity crap in the first place?
I have Bliss on my Mustang and the convex mirrors on my Edge. I prefer the mirrors over the LED light in the mirror. But both systems would be way better than having a car with neither. I'm surprised the OP's car didn't come with one or the other.
I don't see where you have any choice, you need to at least fix the broken pistons before they send a rod through the block.
But the bigger question is who decided a stock bottom end and valve assembly could withstand 8500 rpm? If it was you then you have no recourse. If someone sold you...
Well lets see, it's an internet discussion forum so I threw out a topic for discussion. Nothing deeper than that. Interesting that there's 126 replies and only you and one other person took offence to it. So you'll have to figure out why you're so delicate. Also I'm sure you know you're not...
My story is similar to a couple of these, I bought the car as a retirement present to myself. At first it was going to be just a road trip car but after a while I felt it wasn't getting used enough so now it's my go anywhere car. This year spring has come very late and we are just now getting to...
I’ve been coming here for a few years now and I’m curious about the different philosophies people have about their Mustang. Some treat their car like it’s a exotic that should never see a drop of rain or a gravel driveway. Others, like me, believe it’s a car that was built to be enjoyed and...
I don't like that with the A10 automatic driving in normal mode the engine never gets to 2000 rpm, it's always just above idle. So it's always in that low oil pressure range. So I drive around in track mode so the tranny doesn't shift until the rpm gets higher.
Yes there would be a venturi effect because the air moving through the tube would cause a low pressure zone. But as long as the tube is properly sized there shouldn't be that much suction created. Keep in mind the other side of the engine with the PCV valve is attached directly to the intake...
