I can attest to that... my APIM came out of a 2019 Mustang, and had 3.0 ... I did the flash to 3.4 with 118 maps, and so far so good...

I think he means that the donor VIN (vehicle you got it from) and the ESN from your vehicle (it would only show your anyway)

Well, not all cars get updates it seems, a 2017 would be at 3.0 18xxx, I would think.... with 115 maps maybe? It would be rare for someone with a 2017 and on 2.3 and it says no update ... You would be able to get the 118 maps (provided you ahve NAV), but will have to spend for them....

I'm not an expert, but what I have seen (and done sometimes) is get the VIN from a car that is as close as you can get to yours.... so no a NAV download will not work for a non-nav , try finding a car that is the same year and model (or as close as they will say) , and then add that VIN... I...

Well, the issue is that the APIM I got was supposed to have come out of an F150, the shell is the F150, the main board is the Mustang... so the VIN I got was for an F150... 8) Why they did that I will never know... but I got a good deal on it, and it's at 3.4 and 118, so I can't complain. 8)

That just means that a version of Sync for you is not available for your car... 2.3 should be able to get to 3.0 though for a 17 Check the wrecking yards for a VIN from another 2017 mustang at car-part.com , and see if when you add it in the owner.ford.com site it tells you 3.0 is...

I will admit, I'm on 3.4 with the 118 maps ... but yes, it would suck if I could not even though I have the right APIM.

I know my APIM came out of a 2019 Mustang, but I really doubt I would be able to get the Maps for it, cuz the VINs don't match. 8)

Just remember that the VIN of your car, would have to match the VIN of the Sync 3 vehicle it came out of....the updater might not like that it's different.... I haven't seen anyone that has done the Sync 3 upgrade that got the maps from the site for it...

As far as I know, if you did the upgrade, putting in the info is not going to work. UNLESS, you know the VIN and the ESN from the vehicle it came from .... I would hate for someone to have done the upgrade, put the info in , spend the 100-130 and not be able to use the files.... because when...

Just be aware, that there is a bug that seems to show that you updated to 117, not 118, even though you actually have the 118 maps ... I read that Ford is aware, and working on a a fix

I read that the update might not report the correct version for some (read that most) ... somehow it's not updating that part.. but you do have the 118 maps
