I haven't sent mine yet. My situation is a bit unique in that mine was replace when I blew up my clutch in the States on vacation, now back in Canada. Even McLeod is not sure, but I have to fill out some forms and I need information from the shop that did the work including who they got the...
Word of advice and listen up all you American vendors. Free shipping to Canada is great, but if you use UPS or FedEx, you will pay brokerage fees. UPS is insane what you pay. I never use UPS across the border.
Those that have, feel free to chime in with your thoughts.
My car is finally done and will be picking it up tonight. I have done some reading and when the clutch is depressed there should be around 0.025" clearance in the clutch disc area. With my center plate having a 0.013" warp, it only allowed 0.012" clearance. My pressure plate had a warp of 0.009"...
I assume the router has a ball bearing to follow the bore lower down so as to guide the cutter perfectly. The only way to get the correct diameter is by grinding the cutter head to the correct offset diameter. If concentricity is achieved, your next battle is the dimension and tolerance. You...
As a machinist you don't use a CNC. No shop would spend the time to set up a CNC for this, it would be on a manual machine. The only concern you have is concentricity and I would not trust a router to provide that. Cutting the aluminum with a router is easy and the idea is viable, but if the...
I have done several track days and the instructor at the drivers meeting have all said turn baby sitters off. I have always gone track mode with advance track fully off (hold switch for about 6 seconds)
I called them and emailed pictures along with measurements to their head tech guy. Still waiting for a reply as to if it is covered under warranty. They said the floating plate being cone shaped is what is causing the dragging issue.
Yes, bought another RST clutch.
Well mine got pulled out on Wednesday and I picked up the clutch yesterday to look it over. Overall the clutch looks not bad for only 6k miles on it, but the floating plate and pressure plate surfaces are cone shaped and not flat. With a straight edge across the floating plate, I can get a...
I installed the BK049 kit but it was an early kit that didn't have the through bolts you use when you drill out the threads on the diff. I want to install those through bolts so I am going to buy some but need the spec on them.
My transmission is coming out on Tuesday and will report what I find. While mine is similar to the OP, it is not as bad sounding. Still, I know there is a problem and it needs to be fixed.
