Sorry to hear that. I had the exact same thing happen to me, white overspray everywhere. It took me like 3-4 hours to clay bar everything. Still need to do the rims. :tsk: good luck to ya
When you say"top end cleaner" are you referring to the type you pour into the gas tank or the kind you spray directly into the intake/vacuum source? If you're speaking of the gas tank type there's no evidence currently of those having any negative effects that I can find. If you're speaking...
I googled walnut blasting and this shop offers a kit to do it yourself. They say BMW dealerships recommend you do it every 30,000miles. Lots of good info on here, even a video of the before and after results. Thanks for bringing it up...
Ya the value lifetime tune from Tune+ makes you feel like you're getting the best out of every little mod you add without having to pay every single time. Just my opinion, I'm sure unleashed and others are great in their own way too.
Water/meth and detergents meant to dissolve carbon are very different. Water/meth is great at keeping valves clean but it's ability to "remove" baked on carbon is weaker than a strong detergent of some kind. Not sure if dirty injectors have been a reported issue but anywho going full e85...
The combination of direct injection and bad pcv design are causing premature carbon buildup. Ford's answer is to swap out the cylinder head when enough buildup occurs and start causing issues. Doesn't sound like a fix but like the Tech says in the vid, Ford's working on an approved way to clean...
Your always gonna spray post turbo... The whole purpose of spraying cleaners is to knock off any crap on the valves, right? Some of it gets burned and some of it doesn't. Some of which doesn't goes through the exhaust aka exhaust turbine wheel. You see what I'm saying? That's just one reason not...
Hey guys so as people start to put miles on their ecoboosts, I've read some people have been using valve cleaners like Seafoam and other forms of induction cleaners.
:ford:
Ford does not have an approved method for any form of induction service. If you take it upon yourself to use any form of...
Honestly guys I wouldn't sea foaming or use any kind of valve cleaner. You can cause lots of turbo issues down the road! Whatever doesn't get burned goes right through the turbo, fouling seals etc. Currently ford has no approved method for induction service for this very reason. From what I've...
Thanks man! People replaced it from the bottom?! Ya this method is way faster, 10 minutes tops for the intake. I had an extra retainer clip after putting everything back and was freaking out trying to find where it went! So I took off the intake again lol just to realize the big throttle body...
So i picked up my revised PCV from Ford today. It's the one with the blue spout on top. Searched for Adam's video and gave up after 2 minutes.
Engine cover was easy just 2 bolts and 2 nuts..different sizes:mad:
Since this was my first time doing this I made sure to disconnect all the...
Just install the new pcv from the parts department, it's like 22$. Should help if you're randomly getting smoke and if that fails a catch can would be you're next step. Here's a pic of what it looks like and part number, thanks to pewtercam.
Sweet I just ordered the part today, it's actually really cheap?! I'll post pics of my old one and cut it open like you did to see what's going on in there. Should be in by Friday.
nice I'll try that! Ya I didn't want to gut something I was thinking might have had to be replaced and not guaranteed to fix the problem. Did you update yours yourself?
Not so quick background go to bottom for a tl;dr
Catless downpipe was installed in Nov 2015. The car NEVER smoked before this install but from now on smoking was the norm and alleviated by holding my idle at 1200 till the smoke cleared. You're probably thinking why didn't he get a catch can...
I completely agree the top e-85 thread on here only has 25 replies :/ I think once more conversion kits start to sell, the people who get them can chime on possible pros and cons. Preferably pros but not everything is always perfect.
Thanks for the info can't wait to get my intercooler so I can start mixing for e-30 and eventually convert to e-85 once adam finalizes his conversion kit.
Both vids were pretty cool Glenn and sometimes people treat these videos as scientific proof. You could've been at a drag strip and people still would've argued about some obscure unaccounted variable making your video invalid.
Keep vids like these coming!
