The days of the the 3er being a light, tossable sports sedan/coupe are on the way out. I hate to be "that guy", but I really think that the E46 was the last of the true M3s. Just enough power to get you in trouble, properly tossable and compitent chasis, drivable and usable on a regular basis...
And I agree with that. The S550 is a better chasis than the E9x. Hell, we saw it with the Boss agianst the M3.
Ten years ago, I only wanted BMWs. Now, of all the cars on my short list, 50% of them are Fords and I'm only really interested in the 2er. What strange and wonderous times we...
I'm hoepful that Ford gives the EB a decent top end. I know that the EB is going to come with a baby turbo (I think I've seen K03 somewhere), and the baby turbo on the Speed3 was dead on the top end. When you started getting deep into 4th or 5th it was like hitting a wall.
A lighter FWD hatchback with less drivetrain loss vs a heavier RWD sports coupe.
I upset more than a few people in my Speed3, but that was a while back. From a dig, I think the edge is going to go to the Mustang, but from a roll I wouldn't completely write off the Speed3. I just hope that...
I've only *owned* 2 BMWs, both E46s, but I have worked at a BMW dealership when younger and trying to figure out what to do with my life, and I also have a number of BMW owning friends, so I'd like to chime in if possible...
Don't discount BMW on this. The performance aftermarket for BMWs, at...
I'd be interested to see exactly how much of an effect going to a IRS would really have? That far down the line I would think it would be negligable to loss experienced elsewhere.
Nope, and I wish I could have. The APs are for specific cars, or at least were when I had them. I wish they weren't, I would have just picked up a used one for an older Scooby for cheap, and then when I sold the Z sold it to some GTR guy for $100 less than new.
If it was cross platform...
Fingers crossed. I had the AP for my Speed3, and an AP for my Z befopre they dropped support on it. I have a few friends with 335is running them as well, and a close friend had his GTR (before he sold it) on one. I think they really have locked down the game with the AP.
The problem with meth injection is it is acting as a band aid for a bigger issue. I'm sure it wont hurt with keeping the intake side a bit cleaner, but it won't be as effective as a proper media blasting. In the N54 community, meth was popular till they figured out ethanol blend tunes, and...
^This. The N54 guys have had pretty good experiences with it, and while not the cheapest option, if you are only doing it every 25k or so, it shouldn't be a huge burden. I'm lucky enough to have someone local who can do it for cheap.
Turbo pops at 100k? Time for built internals and a 35R!
I'd like to see the Ecoboost at a spread more like 25-26 for city, 33 highway because my (admittedly short) commute is mostly city style driving. I'm still more likely to get the V8, but the Ecoboost isn't completely off the table.
I have a friend who got into a BRZ from a three hundred something AWHP Evo. He loves the handling and the controlability and communication he gets from the BRZ, but he says the same frequently.
I test drove an FR-S when I was getting my Scion. I knew coming out of the M3 it was going to...
I think it would really come down to where the power came from. In the case of the Goat, they went from the LS1 to the LS2, so it was a new motor. I could see having some buyers remorse there, as I would see it with the early adopters who picked up the '10 Mustangs with the redesign and then a...
Former Speed3 with turbo back owner, can confirm. I'd love to see a stripper/bare bones Ecoboost 4 go for about 25K, but doubt it'll get that low. Even then, at a 27-30 spread, I know a lot of people who would start cross shopping this with the Toybaru twins.
I have a good friend with a GT3 stuck down at the port in Houston. He was lamenting how long it has taken and how much longer it will take to get the car, and I mentioned off hand he should have just gotten a Camaro.
I'm not that agile, but I got out of the way of the block of wood he threw at...
At my previous place of employment, I was able to get into one of the first production Camaros and take it for a quick spin around a parking garage. The visibility in that thing was worse than horrible, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get the seat into a position that was both...
