Power Up I have not said one negative thing about the Z/28. It's a great car, my issues are with GM and those who make it better than it is. Yes it is better than the LS. We all know that but it's not better or have better performance than a GTR or 991tts or a Z06. It's simply not at that level...
I'm assuming that since the zr1 vette is not legal it is somehow a bad car. That was the impression that you gave with your original statement.
As for the thread I find it comical that GM is touting the z28 as a gtr/zo6/911tt Competitor on the road course only to have succumb to mind games to...
You did not answer my question. Is the zr1corvette legal in this class?
Stuntman man specifically stated the mustang has too much power to weight for its tires and is therefore ineffective. Is this correct?
Yes it is considering that with this poor figure the GT500 destroys the Z28 in the 1/4 mile which is all about power loading of the rear wheels.
The reason I brought it up was that Power Up said it was illegal in the stock NHRA class because it had less than a 6lb/hp power/weight ratio. Im...
Again where are the four corner weights to put the camaro at 50/50? I still see no measurements to show true handling capability regardless of front rear ratio. I still find it funny that GM had trouble beating matching the zl1 ring time in the dry.
GT500 is bad because it has too much power...
I dont think they ran it on a track but just on a empty street. The z28 is a low to mid 12 sec car on a prepped track with good driver. Very much like the 12/13 Mustang Boss.
You're right power up however that is not the 50/50 someone quoted. I will also add that neither Mag weighed the car and they simply are reporting GM stats on it.
Once again someone stated that the GT500 was heavy but in reality it weighs just 14lbs more than the z28 or in relation just...
Why did the both the Porsche and Nissan destroy the Z28 on the Ring? All three had multiple days on closed tracks and yet the Z28 is a distant third. Hell Porsche does not even market their times and they put a 10 spot on GM.:lol:
You were saying the GT500 was heavy and I was just commenting that the 13 GT500 and the 14 Z28 are about the same weight give or take 20lbs.
If you have access to the actual suspension geometry(roll center, roll axis, CG, motion ratio, wheel rate, roll bind, roll steer, and such) to both cars...
Considering the 5.8 TVS weights in at the same weight as n/a z28 what is your point?
I have no doubt the z28 is faster one lap and road racing than the gt500 but many people would be surprised at close the difference is. However the z28 is quite a bit slower than both the 911 tts and the gtr...
They ran the z28 many many laps in the dry and on camera, not once did they break 37. They ran faster in the supposed rain than they ran in the dry. I wonder how that happened?
No doubt GM cheats at ring lap times as their is plenty of evidence over the years. Same with Nissan or anyone marketing ring times. That said the performance in the cars today we will always see some sort of cage in the for the protection of the driver/engineers.
Show me the pic/vid it wasn't
I can't believe you're comparing tires to roll cages. You're better than that. No doubt they do help when the chasis is beyond its normal compromise which would be what 10-15 times on the ring allowing the car to gain tenths of a sec each time.
What pics? Where in the video does it show behind the seats?
Z28 was caged as well as the zl1 and the gt500 and every other test car hitting those numbers.
I disagree that the cage makes that much of a difference. The added rigidity is only used in certain corners and would surprised if...
I put no stock into the cars being "stock" on the ring. As for putting stock into how the manufacturers who market ring times(ie. Nissan and GM) spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and spend hundreds of laps on the course to get the very best time they can get, yes these times are fairly...
