A beast alright, iron block. The power band (the RPM spread between max torque and max hp) is actually broader with the 5.0, that's what 4 small valves and VVT brings. Personally an aggressive exhaust on a Coyote simply sounds wicked.
Have you driven a '15 yet? With all do respect to you and your '12, from a behind the wheel experience it's not even close. Numbers don't tell the entire story. A 2900 lb Fox body drives like a lumber wagon compared to your '12!
Who would have thought 30 years ago that a 2015 Mustang would have less understeer than a 2/3/4 series BMW, yet that contemporary BMW has the better automatic?
All fair enough, except for your take on the 6R80. The 6R80 as calibrated in the car I drove (V6) was every bit as good as the 6A ZF unit I had (don't remember the trans exact identifying alphanumeric code) in my '08 135. A trans I thought was excellent, although yes superseded by the...
FWIW, I drove a base V6 auto recently, and I could not believe how it held the gears and downshifted so quickly. That was in normal not sport. It may not be a ZF8 which is probobly the best slush box out there, but it is very responsive! It's durable too as it's an F150 unit.
The "good old days" revival actually began with the 2008-13 BMW 135. I had an '08 (best car I have ever owned) prior to my current '12 335 . The things that iratate me about my 335 also apply to the 235 (no feel electric steering, certain asthetetics).
My choices once my lease is up in Sep...
I feel your pain. IMO, you can look at this 2 ways; not many dealers will ever order CO for dealer stock. Magnetic on the other hand will be very prolific. CO may give you the wrong kind of attention however and could be also construed as contrived/boy racer.
I don't think you can go wrong...
I have not seen anything specific on this. Given the heavier IRS (that and the brakes accounting for much of the weight gain) and near clean sheet chassis re-design, I would think its better than the last model (engine dependent of course).
Since the battery is not in the rear, that gives up...
With all do respect, once you get real tires for winter you won't believe the difference. All season tires are like wearing loafers all year; yea they kinda work, however boots work real well in winter.
If you shop carefully you can get modest priced wheels and tires for winter. No need for...
Great Story!
I too have a loyalty to Ford, although not as directly related to the company as your family. My first word was "car" and I was a fan of Ford when my Dad drove big Lincolns, Mercury's and T-Birds from the sixties and seventies.
My older brothers had a thing for imports in the...
