I don't know of any special break-in motor oil that FoMoCo or BMW uses. I do know that metal particulates appear in the oil as a result of initial break in, hence the early first oil change I believe in (and always a high quality filter with an anti drain-back check valve, not a basic Fram)...
I have broken in many a new car and rebuilt 3 engines. The key for me (all 3 engines are still in service) is drive it normally with varied RPM, and change the oil and filter early, like 1500 miles. The thing that is tight on a new engine is the rings seating with the cylinders, that's it...
Could not have said it better, that is exactly how I feel about my '12 335; I refer to it as the "Bavarian Camry", FE is amazing though. Since I need 2 DD's as I split my time between two distant locations I ordered a base '15 EB w/PP to replace my leased '12 335.
I remain a BMW enthusiast...
I decided to go with a dedicated 10"x 2 sub box with a separate amp. While the amp is perfectly matched in terms of RMS power (1200 watts), its not high-end by any stretch. However the loaded box is of excellent quality and for the price of this bundle the amp was virtually free vs the...
I have a '15 EB on order with the base audio system. In the interest of adding depth to this stereo I am going to add a sub. Sound is important as well as preserving as much space as possible in the trunk. To my knowledge there is no custom aftermarket powered sub box available at this time...
1st of all you don't need aftermarket heads on a Coyote, lol. Compared to old school cam in block v8s yes the LT1 is state of the art. However the 5.0's superior OEM head and valvetrain combined with smaller more stable pistons and an equally bulletproof bottom end has my money on the Ford...
Totally disagree, flat fours sound like an inline four with one plug wire pulled; an odd off tune beat IMO. Smooth yes, but so is an I4 with counter rotating balance shafts. Although easy to pull from the car, when those Subie motors let go (seen my share), $plit case blocks are more...
Why should anyone have to give a "crap" about GM MrPoopALot? I find it interesting that certain people here (with last gen 'Stangs) are somehow worried about the street credibility of the new Mustang and what GM will be doing next year etc.
Make a hay while the sun shines, better brakes...
So that's what is has come down to? A 4 series has better space efficiency than a Mustang...Good God really! Since the 4 is a 2-door coupe of the 3 series that is the single most important and volume leading BMW car with tremendous R&D (and priced accordingly)...not really surprising.
On the...
The DP 01 EB car pitted allot, due to a slipping clutch and then DNF's since it dropped to 7th place in class and could finish no lower.
The DP 02 EB that won had pits stops in number similar to the DP 'Vettes.
The V6 Mustang is significantly less money than the Accord V6 (which is almost as much as a base GT), and the EB is the tuners choice and as quick as the V6 Accord stock. The Accords would be fine for someone less passionate about cars.
Incidentally since your from WI; I have always driven...
An EB PP is impressive, and a lot of car the money. I just ordered one and IMO is the best value of the '15 Mustang line. Just as fun as a daily driver vs. the 5.0 GT but you can't beat it's stye and function for $28k.
Ford mod motors are notoriously tight until at least 10k miles. I also think the entire car (2015) is calibrated for an aggressive experience. From the steering, firm brake pedal, and throttle response, you have to admit it's actually hard to "hypermill" these cars for economy.
