  1. 2018 GT- Tick On 2nd Motor

First of all you are misinterpreting what Condor is saying. Second of all, scoring & wear are two VERY different things and mean very different things so please slow your roll on the whole cylinder scoring diatribe until you understand the difference.
  2. 2018 GT- Tick On 2nd Motor

How do you figure there is scoring with all engines?
  3. BBQ tick - another attempt to understand

I am in the same boat but knowing how slow Ford is to own up to issues I doubt it...
  4. Uh.....Guys?

What Bootlegger said. Adding one additional item, any change in load on the bearings will impact oil film lubrication which directly relates to bearing wear rate. Without going into excessive detail, there is a reason why OEM's design with crankshaft torsionals & full accessory loading in mind.
  5. Uh.....Guys?

Interesting....suppose it could make some sense regarding the impact to crankshaft torsionals as a result of belt tension on the damper. It would be interesting to see if anyone fixed the tick with this and no oil additive. Will be monitoring for a few others to join in the fun and gauge...
  6. 2019 GT Buying Advice - Too Risky?

My vote would be to stay away until we have definitive proof this tick and rattle issue have been corrected. I regret buying my 2018 and have both the rattle & tick issues.
  7. 475 miles on the new 2019

I'm gunna go out on a limb and say this tick issue is way more widespread than it was for previous generations. Nowhere near the amount of 11-17 owners seemed to complain of the same noise compared to us 2018 & up guys. As awesome as the car is, old blue seriously screwed the pooch on this...
  8. BBQ tick - another attempt to understand

The cavitation could be a resultant of oil aeration...not saying there is anything definitive to the theory but oil aeration entraps the air long enough for it to become rapidly pressurized inside the lube pump thus causing its velocity to increase and make contact with a metallic object...
  9. BBQ Tick Solved?

I truly hope that is the case. If judging by the posts on this and other mustang forums, the 18-19 cars seem to have an exacerbated case of this tick. More reason to continue driving mine until they find root cause and come up with a permanent solution.
  10. BBQ Tick Solved?

Before writing home regarding this whole metallic "debris" in my catch can I would wipe & clean the threads on the can prior to reinstalling and check again when opening it back up. Anything metal on metal will produce shavings and the fact you mentioned it didn't seem magnetic leads me to...
  11. BBQ Tick Solved?

    Evidence? Link? Anything beyond speculation?
  12. BBQ Tick Solved?

So is he saying a tolerancing issue with the crank bearings is causing them to wear/fail prematurely or is he just relating this to them breaking in? It seems somewhat logical assuming those bearings would be near the front of the line after the pump creates pressure. I am still a little...
  13. BBQ Tick Fix

With the guys running ultra platinum pennzoil, what weight are you using, 5W20 or 5W30? About ready to change the oil for the first time with my 18 GT (about time to put the car up for the winter with only 1050 miles) and I am in a similar boat with the tick developing around 200miles on the...
  14. Buyers remorse not waiting for Bullitt?

I mean it's cool and all but imo all the revamps lack the luster of the original Bullitt. Add in the dealer markups, bland wheels, & minimal "visual" differentiators make it hard to justify the price difference relative to a GT. At the end of the day, depreciation hits the Bullitt in the same...
  15. afraid of the 2018 GT? buy now or no?

BBQ tick and all, no fear of mine. Only about 1k miles in but I have a warranty for issues that arise down the road. OP, if the 18's scared you enough to make a tread asking others for their input on level of concern, hold out and buy a 19/20.
  16. Is Mustang GT your Weekend car or DD?

Weekend ride, focus has the daily duties unless the weather is nice.
  17. 2018 GT low rpm engine rattle, cylinder damage pics, Ford buyback process

All I can really gather from reading through this thread is if you have either the infamous BBQ tick or the 2k rpm rattle or both have a dealer document the issue and enjoy the car until a TSB has been issued identifying the source of either issue. Perhaps borescope it if you have the equipment...
  18. this guy says hes on his 3rd 18 engine

Bootlegger, no point in trying to explain statistical analysis to folks who don't value trend insight that can be attained. The only gripe I have with using the poll data is as you has mentioned previously, those of whom who voted no but now have the noise are not captured in the dataset...
  19. If I don't get Active Exhaust will I regret it?

I was full aboard the hype train until the car I searched for had it. After using it for a month or so now I can say I am glad the car came with it. Only plans now are a resonator delete, maybe a cat delete later down the road but the rest is gravy. Track mode sounds really good when you mash...
  20. Do I need to break in my new 18...

Huh? Something seems amiss with this train of thought....
