S550 to S650 parts swap and interchangeability possibilities

So I made a drawing of my own wiring diagram, I will post it only as reference and a few things will change if anyone copies it, the wiring pinout will match the kia optima module, possibly the parking brake switch (s550) but cannot confirm the color wire changed from different year adaptations but assuming all will have a black for ground then the other would be power, the caliper wiring colors should remain the same, now for whats different, I purchased a dash harness to steal connectors from cause it was a whole lot cheaper, the connector for the parking brake switch (s650) was equipped with the physical button switch so it had 8 wires, I had cut the 2 that aren't needed for the hand brake switch, I did have to cut a little alignment plastic tab that wouldn't let me slide the button parking brake switch connector on to the handbrake switch, just grabbed a razer and cut it off and fits now (its like a little leg), My wiring diagram I will post with the factory colored wires, to colored wires I used to extend then to the associated wires for the optima parking module, let me show what I mean, cause all of this I had done back then before buttoning up the last interior installation to plan for the future

Only if you can't find the original pigtail for the specific handbrake parking lever like I wasn't able to, wait actually (sorry its been months, I just remembered) cut the switch itself, not the connector lol so reverse down below

Has anyone retrofitted a S650 active exhaust pipes to an S550? I'm just interested in pipe fitment not wiring the actuators.

From what I've read, exhaust hangars are in different locations from S550 to S650, valve I read are also positioned in a different orientation then the S550's which may cause rubbing but not sure if it mentioned on the actuator or on the wiring but fitment appears to be the same

Funny enough I just ordered my 500 console for my project. Will be making a custom top panel to be 3d printed to accommodate the physical shifter. I’ll post up the file when I’m done!

Following this electronic parking brake install for sure! I was going to use the wilwood controller but the Kia is significantly cheaper if it works!

I am looking forward to your progress on the brake controller. How did you figure out a Kia Optima brake controller would be viable?

I've seen the Pantera Electronics one used with a momentary switch on a similar project. The Pantera controller is about $350, the Optima idea seems more reasonable.

The knuckle project was a success, reasoning I could not tell you but all it took was a adjustble toe arm in the rear to get everything in spec and zero out, I could not tell you if its because of s550 stock arm length or if I had damaged my toe adjustment bolts on reinstallation, so knuckle was a success swap, as for the optima EPB Module, I had wanted to use one that didn't have a dedicated canbus system so I went with the 2016 module, has canbus to communicate with the kia's bcm for safety measures of when its activated or disengaged etc. But didn't use canbus to activate the actual commands, its still in theory but looking at the wiring diagram, it looked very simple which is my goal of simplicity, reason why i did not go aftermarket is because if this unit fails, it'll only set me back $50 and is plug and play once I wire it up vs aftermarket may still be plug and play, but if the unit dies out of warranty, I have to pay $$ lol

Makes perfect sense, I agree simpler is better. The function of the EPB isn't all that complicated. Finding a controller that will make it work like OEM is the challenge.

I called Range Industries and spoke with them about it. They have a page on their website discussing the S650 knuckle on S550 suspension.

They told me you can make the motor work manually with a momentary switch. The catch is you have to listen for the motor to find the end of its travel. Not exactly a convenient solution, I want an actual controller.

Good news, I messaged a few people that 3D print parts and potentially still own a S550, only one responded so far and said he can try and make a delete panel for the handbrake, it will just be a flat blank delete panel you could mount switches too but says it'll take time which of course
