I like the new Mach 1. I think Ford did a good job here. It is almost what I wished it would be. With the exception of not having the A10 and the performance pack together being my only bitch. If I could afford one, I'd have trouble deciding which one to get, but I'd have one of them. As it is, I'm still paying on my PP2 which I love, and Mrs. GetThere said she would end my life, which I love more, if I traded now.

I think Car & Driver was given a base price of about $50,000 for the Mach 1. I linked the article in this thread.
That makes complete sense as stock it's like a p p 1. then I'll course the automatic trans is going to be a couple Grand. And magneride and pretty soon it will be mid-fifties.that's one of the reasons that the Bullitt was really a pretty good deal. It had very little price over the same loaded pp1

for essentially the same money (give or take), I'm taking the snake every time.
Hell I'll take a 2018 leftover GT350 for less than 3000 differential. A Bullitt is already a premium trim and with every option checked came in a "sensible" 52k (ignore Recaro). If the Mach1 premium+appearance package doesn't land smack on top of the Bullitt price Ford isn't going to sell any units worth a damn. The Bullitt didn't exactly set the world on fire and people buy black cars like hotcakes so it wasn't just the acquired-taste that is the green that put people off. All of the Mach1 parts have had their tooling long since paid off and the incremental cost over PP1/PP2 parts is vanishingly small.

I reckon the A10 will be a $500-800 option instead of what it is today since the Tremec costs more than the MT82 and so the relative difference will narrow a bit. The improvements to the A10 were likely straight out of a F150-financed project which needed beefier parts.

It would be nice if a 4.10 diff were a factory-selected option for all the "I can only drive in a straight line" guys. :)

I freaking love the sound of this! Definitely can be deciphered apart from the Bullitt and Shelby cars.

Can't wait to start seeing some times on the Mach 1.

We're already in a depression and no recovery in sight. Ford would be positively insane to price the car out of reach to all but the over 150k/yr income bracket. Unless they really only intend to move less than 3000 units a year. New GT350 can be had for 60k if not under. So there isn't any headroom.

Short of some coolers the Bullitt at 52k (no Recaro) is already a PP2+Premium+Appearance Pack. Cost to Ford for the coolers is ~$600 if that much. The Tremec is 3 grand at retail, and might cost Ford as much as 1000 more than MT82. Neither set of Mach1 wheels cost Ford a penny over what they currently pay for PP2 or Bullitt wheels. They can easily keep the Mach1 at the same Bullitt price level. Handling pack is probably $1500 which keeps the MSRP not quite 10 grand clear of the GT350 at 63k.
You can always get a basic Mustang GT, that has more horsepower than a stock vette.

Not everyone can afford a Mach 1 in 2021...!

Please correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t the C8 have 495 HP?

One of the great things about our Mustang is that you can spend as little or as much as you want. Can’t afford a Mach 1, that’s OK, by what you can afford and make it your own.

OK, fine sue me over 5 HP. 490 is still more than 460 or 480 for that matter. You didn’t say anything about price.

I think you are missing the entire point.

Nobody has to get the Mach 1, or have it as a bargain... or should be more "consumer friendly"..... because there is already a consumer friendly GT that (at base) is is still an outstanding sportscar.... and is nearly $20k cheaper than a corvette, with 90% of it's abilities...

You can build your own Mach 1 if you don't like Ford's version. Seems logical....

Really, no adaptive cruise control on the Vette?

Yes, I did miss your point. I also agree with it.

aren't you supposed to be paying attention while you drive? Napping and watching porn is for Tesla owners. And when it goes all wrong with the fraudulent "autopilot", heads are sometimes no longer co-located with torso.

I really love the Mach 1 and might even consider one depending on what they will offer here in Europe. But in no way it's having 90% of the abilities of a lighter midengine car with more hp and 50 lb-ft more torque. Acceleration from a stop or low speeds is insane on the C8.
The Mach 1 will more likely sit between GT PP2 and a GT350R. On C&Ds Lightning Lap even the C7 Z51 was on par with the GT PP2.

As always comparisons between the Mustang vs the Corvette tend to be an effort in futility. Even more so with the C8. Truly apples and oranges. Personally I’d be happy with one of each.
