Would fitting a 285 to a PP1 9.5 inch rim in a square set up would be competitive? Or should I get an actual 10 inch wide rim and go for a 285. Is there difference in cornering putting a 285 on a 9.5 inch wide rim, instead of going to the 10 inch wide wheels?

The PP1 9.5" wheel will not fit the front as the 52mm offset will certainly rub.

As far as putting a 285 on a 9.5" wheel, I think it would be fine for street use but I would be concerned using that setup on the track. Too much sidewall movement to be safe.
Look up SVE wheels on LMR. Flow formed and a decent price. 19x10 ET35 with 285/35 will fit perfectly as a square setup.

With a 5mm spacer it will fit, ran that setup on my car for a year.

Stick to a 275 you won't gain much in terms of tire footprint.

Why wouldn't you just go to the 11" R350 et52 rims from LMR and use 305s? They'll fit with a 20-25 mm spacer up front, mine fit with a 20, some cars need a little more. Anything less and you're not going to get all you can. I farted around with lesser wheels and staggered setup and regretted it. These are front heavy cars and they need all the tire they can get up front.

Not a big fan of the r350, its nice but I feel like there are much better looking rims out there.
