Yes I get that outside departments had input and involvement, but I don’t believe it was an (at the time) SVT project. The HP Boss coyote wasn’t handbuilt, was it??
Not sure if it was hand built but it was assembled in Windsor, Ontario.

Certainly have to chuckle about Ford Performance supposedly being a sinking ship.

Yes, this past year Ford lost and moved some very experienced and talented people out but with Mark Rushbrook now at the helm of Ford Performance they will be just fine.

Rushbrook has been with Ford for ~20 years and was hand picked by Raj Nair some 5 years ago as Motorsports Engineering Manager for Ford Performance and is a very intelligent individual with 2 Masters degrees with one of them being in Mechanical Engineering and the other in Business Administration. To say that this individual is very intelligent, vastly experienced, extremely hard working and a passionate HP Blue Oval guy is an understatement.

Mark is also an amateur racer and with Ford heading directly in the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series with Mustang in February (teams such as Roush-Fenway, Penske, Stewart-Haas, Wood Bros.) you can bet that Mark and Hermann will be not only focused on the upcoming Cup series in 2019 but will also spend a great deal of time promoting the new GT500 and further allocations for the Ford GT with the application process opening up in just over 2 weeks.

Just speculation on my part but don't be surprised to see the new GT500 as the Official Pace Car at the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 24th.

Maybe a bit of a long shot but how cool would that be!

We all know the GT500 has been slow to launch but suggest that the wait will be worth it and that Ford Performance is in great hands with Mark and Hermann going forward.

Well, their lack of cars and power is why people think this. Where is the rattlelac v fighter? Where is the fatcat charger fighter? Where is the lighting? Where is the 850hp Cobra at? Where are the v8s at?is there a next generation Ford GT? These are some of the questions that are being asked by the true Ford crowd.

Just curious, how long have you been part of the "true" Ford crowd (whatever that is meant to be) and how many generations of Mustangs have you owned over that time period?

:)

Don't want much, do you? Why would Ford make a next generation Ford GT? They made their point. It's nice they are selling a few, but I don't see a reason why they would even continue that for long. What V8s are missing?

In order, rattlelac V is dead, fatcat charger is probably dead next, we have the raptor, the GT500 will be out by next year, we already have 4 different V8s with another to be released with the GT500 and yet another to be released in the next couple years, and why does there have to be a next generation FGT?

Sincerely,
the True Ford Crowd

The true FORD crowd are the ones that are all about FORD.Not the ones that just go get the hottest car from all brands and then say i am a FORD guy.I have a 89,and 90 mustang gt drop tops,i had a 2001 mustang that i sold, and i have a 2014 GT500.I have a 98,and 99 FORD escorts, and a 2002 v8 explorer.I am a laborer foreman in construction.I drove my friends GT350 R,and its great, best handling car i had ever driven,BUT not enough for me to trade my GT500 for one.

why couldnt they start on the next gen.FORD GT?There are car brand making a very small number of cars that cost over a million, and they are all spoken for.So you think if FORD did another GT,and said here is 1500hp with a v8,but its gonna cost you 1.5 million people wont buy it?the V8s that are missing are missing from the FORD cars.

My bad,i didnt know the rattlelac v series was dead.As far as the fat cat goes i thought it was selling ok,maybe not.I like the Raptor, thats the baddest truck out,it needs a V8 in it along with the v6.I think the GT500 will be king of its class when it comes out.Why a next gen FORD GT you ask?because what is going on with the current FORD GT shows if you build them ,people will buy them. They are gonna do an extra 300 or so more now. That says alot.

I would love it if Ford made another GT, but I don't see it happening. They have limited engineering resources and I'd like to see them spend more on the Mustang.

I agree with you that I'd like to see Ford make cars with V8s. Ford has said they are going to stop making cars, so I guess getting a car with a V8 from Ford is going to be doubly difficult in the future.

Why would Ford start a next generation Ford GT when they have not even finished allocating or building the present batch of Ford GT's.

The application process for the next batch of ~350 Ford GT's has not even opened up yet let alone not having these cars allocated and probably not assembled until sometime in late 2019 and you already want a next generation Ford GT?

As one of the other responders replied, you certainly don't want much.

So you think Ford would have to wait until this GT is 100% done with sales before they could start the process of another one?:cwl:

Obviously your history of Mustangs and other HP Ford automobiles is very lacking.

How many years was it between the original Boss 302 program and the recent program Boss program, it was 40 years.

How many years was it between the original GT500 program that started Carroll and his team at the LAX airport in 1966 and the recent GT500 program that launched in 2006 for the 2007 cars, another 40 years.

How many years was it between the original GT40 program that was first launched in 1964 and now the first generation Ford GT program that launched and sold cars in 2004 as 2005 models, another 40 years.

The only reason that the second generation Ford GT's were launched some ~11 years after the first generation Ford GT's was to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Ford accomplishing what they intended to do and win their class.

Based on the above history you can bet that Ford is planning a 3rd generation Ford GT back to back right after the second generation program.:cwl::cwl:

I was very fortunate to witness first hand all of the above programs and if you were also there then you should know better.

Alot of writing on your part, and you still don't get it. 2012 GT500 came, then the very next year the 2013 GT500 came with the 5.8.common sense tells me, they had been working on the 5.8 already.

Working on an engine to put in an otherwise unchanged platform is not the same and as completely redesigning a car that should have near generational changes in its capabilities.
