Is anyone using Mobil Super™ 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30?
It seems to fit the WSS-M2C913-D specification.

Cheers,

Erez
This is the Oil I use.

This Oil is hard to come by.

I bought mine from a Oil Wholesaler, 'One Stop Lube Shop', in Taren Point, (Sydney).

You have to buy a box of 4 x 5 litre containers. From memory I think it was $175.00 for the 20 litres.

This will do 2 Oil changes.

I used Mobil 1 5W-30 in the last 2 HSV Clubsports.

Mobil Super™ 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30, is basically the equivalent of Mobil 1, however meeting the Ford Standard WSS-M2C913-D, that Ford say must be used in the GT 5.0 Mustang.

There are not many quality Oils that you can buy in retail packaging, that meet the Ford WSS-M2C913-D specification.

$44 or so for 5l would seem to be a very good price for full synth oil.

Received confirmation from Royal Purple that their
- HPS 5W30
meets specification of WSS-M2C913-D so I guess it can be added to the list.
It is double the price of the Mobil Super™ 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 though...

Thoughts?

Also, I just found out (From my invoice) that the Ford dealership filled her with "Edge 5W-20" when I asked them to change the oil at the complimentary service. That was on January 2017, a good few months after the Ford manual I have in the car was printed, and clearly says 5W-30.

Yes, I can really see their commitment to me

"Feel at ease knowing that your car is being serviced by factory trained technicians using specialised diagnostic equipment. After all, nobody knows your Ford better than we do!"

IMHO absolutely not worth the price. Mobil 1 3000 is full syn and will probably surpass your needs if you're only road driving. I think the oil change interval is the bigger problem. I'll be changing every 7.5k km in warranty, and every 10k km when it's out of warranty and not serviced by Ford anymore.

Could it have been a mistake in how they recorded it? They may have just compromised any warranty defence they had against engine failure. Would be interesting if there was an issue and they stated that it made no difference, from that point on we'd all be on strong ground to use whatever oil we want within reason.

To be fair I think they do actually know your car better than anyone, because most of them have to have it back three times to fix each problem.

yeah I have been using 5-30 and got the comment below from a guy on another forum, he made this point which may or may not be correct, but I will carry on using what I use

Mustang should be 5-20 std running 5-30 we have seen errors in the vvt solenoid which will cause less power, torque and fuel economy will get worse as well as void warranty

Yep definitely - Here's the relevant part from the invoice.
Plus, $137 for oil is VERY rich. I wish I knew then what I know now...

I think the tech price and oil filter price are really good value tho
CJ Pony Parts Charge $12.99 US for the filter

Page 192 of the Australian Mustang Owners Handbook, states the Oil Viscosity should be 5W-30.

I have spoken to the Service Manager at my Ford Dealer and he advised Ford Australia are advising 5W-30 should be used, based on the Australian Climatic Conditions.

I have also spoken to Ford Australia technical advice, (on 2 occassions), and have also been advised Ford Australia are advising 5W-30 should be used.

The following is a copy from Page 192 of the Australian Mustang Owners Handbook.

Seems strange that Ford specs a different oil for the Mustang here to what they do in the USA. Surely the temperature extremes here are smaller than a lot of places over there.

The confusion is also compounded by the fact that manual and Ford Australia state 5W-30 should be used. Yet the oil cap states 5W-20.

At my 3,000 km inspection and oil change, the dealer put Edge 5W-20 in it according to the invoice. I'm not going to stress over it, I don't race the thing and its still the recommended oil by Ford US. At the end of the day, the dealer put it that oil into the engine, its on them if it causes damage.

Sure is :eyebulge:

Guys I just remembered something, when I spoke to Castrol they said there is an Edge A5 ie Ford spec oil but it's rare and specified by Land Rover.
