I bought a 2016 A6 leftover last year cheap (~29k otd). I bought it with the intent of forced induction. I figure i can get a whipple gen3 installed for around 8k. That gives me around 700 RWHP for around 37k.

Counter that with the recent 39995 deals re: Roush and/or Whipple for a new 2018 with 750ish RWHP.

I've got significant positive equity in my car.

What would you do? Is the A10 worth it? Would a blower and a converter on the '16 be a better option for about the same price?

I'm wondering how far Ford can push this motor before we start to see some failures...especially as we add FI into the mix.

Dude if I were in your position I'd trade the shit out of it for the a10 w/whipple or roush. Honestly I spent all morning researching the same thing. I'm just too deep in mine to swap at this point. And I'm going with a beefcake deal. He can hook you up either way

with the amount of tq PD blowers produce you really shouldn't need a converter IMO. I think the gen 3 whipple makes like 500ftlb at 2500 rpms, sticky tires will have a hard time keeping them from spinning with that much tq. Its up to you but the A10 with a procharger has already been in the 9's, thats likely the route I would go.

as long as you dont take a bath on current car the decision is simple.

Punt, A10 car with blower for 40k, Be happy.
All day long. Terry can hook you up with some go fast good times. I'd do that in a second, but I'm happy with what I have and mine will be paid off this year.

“Significant positive equity” lolololololol
not sure what the lol is..but the car will be paid off this year. I call that positive equity.

I'd lose around 2K on a trade (cost for driving it for a year...i suppose)

The a10 car would be another $1595 so we are really talking ~42k for a comparable '18.

'16 A6 with blower for 37 or '18 A10 for 42. Losing the 2k in trade makes the '18 7k more expensive.

I 'spose that's what I'm asking...is the '18 worth 7k more?

My two cents will tell you "yes", the A10 is worth it. I'm not a big fan of manual, so it was an easy decision for me. The whipple goes on mine in 30 days. Swap it for the 2018.

“Significant positive equity” is buying 2004 Ford GT for $120k and selling it in 2018 for $1m. This isn’t it

"If you buy an asset and finance the purchase with a loan tied to that asset, the relationship between the asset's value and the loan balance defines your equity position. If the value of the asset is greater than the balance of the loan, you have positive equity. If the loan amount is greater than the asset is worth, the equity is negative. Both the lender, and you as the owner of the asset, want to be in a position of positive equity. Negative equity can lead to more financial problems."

This is why I rarely post in these forums.

Have a nice day.

Your car is almost paid off. I'd put a Whipple on your current car and forget about that 18.
