2018 Mustang Muffler Tips

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else has this issue. As you can see in the picture, one of the tips is has a lot more shine than the other. I would assume this is from the active exhaust but i always drive in track mode for the exhaust.

The dirty one is really hard to clean, can not really remove the grime.

Does anyone have experience with this?

How many miles? How does the other side look?

When the active exhaust is in track mode, all of the exhaust is routed through the innermost tip, essentially bypassing most of the muffler. The outer tip is only used when the valve is at least partially closed.

I noticed this on one of the YouTube demos of the active exhaust when there was visible water vapor. Full on quiet is outside and full on track is inside. Normal looked a bit more balanced but still heavier on the inside.

I guess that means there is actual function to the quad tips.

0000 steel wool dipped in aluminum polish of choice. It will clean and shine up like chrome.

Or black ceramic header paint.

It has 10,000 k miles. The other side looks the same.

Aaah, that would make sense. Seems reasonable enough. I guess ill have to paint the tips in something that doesn't change color.

Yeah, thats definitely an option. I probably will paint them. I do not feel like cleaning the tips every 4 moths will wool and polish. However I do like it to shine. Ill have to figure something out.
