The thought of storing a car kills me. Meanwhile I'm paying this expensive payment just for my car to sit in a garage for 5 months out of the year, all because some people are afraid of salt and snow? This is 2015, not 1940, I would expect these cars to hold up to just about anything. And if they don't, well, I guess Ford didn't do such a good job.

As long as I'm paying that payment, its on the road.

Interesting wording - "all because some people are afraid of salt and snow?"

I don't think any of us are afraid of salt and snow, but unlike you

we truly know the damage that it can cause to your vehicle.

But then again, you probably think your mustang handles great in the snow too.

Yea it sucks to know i'm paying for my car and it is sitting for 3-4 months and i can't drive it but when i am able to again i appreciate it that much more. I'd rather not drive it and it stays in pristine condition than driving it thru a salt bath on a daily basis.

That's the beauty of it. The appreciation. There's nothing like going outside in zero degree weather and starting the car up and letting it run for 45 minutes every 3 weeks or so. It's the understanding and bond between driver and car. Gotta say I miss that now in TX since I drive her daily. That specialness I had for 8 years is gone, now it's just normalcy

I'm in a condo building with one parking space... wish I would have inquired about purchasing another parking space and keeping my old Honda that I traded.

That aside, I'll be driving the Mustang this Winter... luckily I can keep my driving down since I don't have to drive during the week, if I don't want (take the metro places).

I had my old Honda up here since 2008 driving through snow and salt.... nothing bad happened because of it. The inside did not get bad (but then I did not have kids/animals kicking around it it either). The outside looked good for a 10-year-old car, even though I did not wash it weekly. Granted, DC is not cleveland, buffalo, etc.... all situations different.

For the first two yeas I drove the car daily... no matter what weather (I was required to be at work, no matter what).

I'm with Tamadrummer88 .... it is on the road and I expect this 2015 to hold up well. I will take care of it more than my Honda though. :D

Most important things is to weekly get under carriage washes if possible (not freezing temps) and if it is cold and has salt on it and starts warming up in 30s/40s get that salt off immediately.

winterizing...

Topping off the gas tank is a good idea. If the tank is only partially filled, air will move in and out of the tank as tempertures bringing with it moisture.
The moisture will condense on the tank walls...even with ethanol, the water may help produce sludge in the gas.
Your Mustang will 'slowly' discharge your battery...a fully discharged battery can (depending the temperature) freeze up damaging the battery. Even a disconnected lead-acid battery
will slowly lose its charge.

Move up here for 3 months in the winter and i'll show you what winter is all about.
First snowstorm of the year coming our way here for Tuesday....they say about 12-15 inches.

Glad my baby is sitting inside undergoing some mods ! :)
