Wrapped my interior trim today

it isn't very hard just got to not be scared pull hard at those clips and it should all come out fine .painting would also look cool I agree might consider doing it myself what color were you thinking painting it

Im thinking the same as my car, blue. So just pull at it relentlessly? That certainly is a scary thought...

Only issue I see compared to the brushed aluminum stock parts is the brushed direction. Looks like you wrapped it with the brush direction going vertically. The stock parts go horizontal. Just an observation from your pics.

Well first get yourself panel removal plastic pieces you can get kit from eBay for not that much $6 use those to get as many clips as possible then pull the tough ones hard

It's hard to tell but all the trim had the vinyl going horizontal I pay attention to much detail to make that mix up lol

That looks pretty good. I've been debating whether or not to wrap my dash in matte Carbon Fiber.

has anybody come up with a good strategy on how to wrap the vents and gauges? the roundness of the bevels is extremely hard to get the vinyl to form to and stick to.

Biggest problem I have found with avery and 3m is that the size and pattern go the wrong way... For instance the size you can get is 5ftx3ft.. Perfect right? Except for the fact that the brushed pattern is along the 3ft dimension.... :frusty:

Well, the vinyl comes on 5 foot wide rolls. When you're buying a quantity of vinyl, a certain amount gets cut off that roll. Which is why when you buy vinyl it's always 5ft by 1ft/2ft/etc. The brushed pattern runs vertically along the length of the roll, which is the right way (a horizontal pattern would be silly), but when it gets cut, you're left with a horizontal pattern unless the seller goes through the trouble of cutting off a 5ftx5ft segment first, and then cutting that.

Hopefully that makes sense. I've bought a few rolls of brushed vinyl, and they all came with the pattern the "wrong" way, regardless of the picture the seller put up. The only way to be sure to get the pattern the right way is to buy a 5ft by 5ft section.

Remove the bolt then pull on the panel. After that bolt is removed there are 3-4 clips holding the panel in.

I'm trying to wrap my steering wheel trim, but I can't get the bottom piece to turn out good at all. It has that center hole, but it's too deep for the vinyl to reach it. Doesn't look like there's anyway I can wrap it with one piece of vinyl.

Unless I'm doing it wrong (totally possible). I might ditch the vinyl idea and paint them instead, but I was hoping I could use this brushed black vinyl.

Your going to need to do this part in two pieces. Put a inlay in the deeper portion. most likely going to be a bit of a pain, then do the outer area second. if done right you'll most likely not even notice the second piece.

All done! Now I see why they charge so much for vinyl wrapping, it's a pain in the neck!

Looking good.
Some tips I have used in the past to help adhere the wrap is to prep the area well. Remove all protectant i.e, armoral etc etc. Then wipe area with some rubbing alcohol. Apply adhesive promoter, esp around the edges. When wrapping leave enough wrap to wrap around the back of the piece by a 1/4", 1/2", this way if for some reason it does come undone, you might be able to stretch it back.
I found a baking hot car that has been sitting in the sun for a while is damaging to wrap jobs if not done perfectly.
I've used cheap wrap and pricey wrap..... you get what you pay for. I prefer to use 3m di-noc when wrapping, very easy to work with. Still must take your time and not rush things unless your a pro. I've seen some guys wrap like a boss with the quickness.
