I'm ready for the 17 MY to come out so i can pick me up a nice used 15 GT. Prices are getting a little too high for my liking. Trying to save up for a house :(

Your fanboy is showing, it's an all new platform based on the ATS, much stiffer chassis and shed a lot of weight, not to mention the mag suspension.

It's an entirely different animal and shames the Mustang in every performance category.

Sorry but it's the truth.
Shames is a bit too strong to be true. Outperforms, certainly. Go buy one if you think it shames the Mustang.

It's a hell of a performer thats for sure, but the extent that GM went to in order to achieve these metrics tell me one thing. The price of the camaro is going to rise. I have a feeling we'll see a C7 pricing bump strategy for the new camaro.

Possibly a 40K 1SS manual in a few years?

So lets take a look at manual mustang and manual Camaro to show how wrong you are. All times taken from 0-60times.com keep in mind the 8k price difference here.

2015 Ford Mustang GT Performance Package
0-60 mph 4.4 | Quarter mile 12.8

2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS (Manual)
0-60 mph 4.1 | Quarter mile 12.4

Lets just keep this to '17MY Mustang talk..........we have enough problems discussing the Camaro in the "Mustang Verses" section ;)

I noticed some encroachment from some of the "vs topics" usual suspects in the price increases thread as soon as someone mentioned C*****. Those guys must run a search on that word every morning :D

current 6-speed Auto is mature, reliable, and high torque. If they come out with a new 10-speed or whatever, don't be surprised if it gets a bunch of negative postings in the Issues / Warranty for the first couple of years. Or maybe they could re-sell the new ZF 8-speed that's in the Dodge. Supposedly that one is good. Although I haven't followed a Dodge forum equiv to this one here to see if there is complaints.
Well the fact Ford is jumping up to a 10 speed from a 6 speed means they are planning to hold the 10 speed for a long time. And knowing Ford they do not leave much to chances and have rigorously tested the 10 speed. The same way the current 6 speed and 5.0 Coyote are bullet proof, so will the 10 speed hopefully.

Guess it'll depend if it's even ready for 2017 and they can produce the numbers to fill both the Mustang and F-150 with a 10 speed in the same year.

Transmission development is many, many millions of dollars. No point in doing that to only have a 2-3 year life cycle.
Didnt mean for them to make it to have a 2-3 life cycle. They could have gotten a transmission from someone else like Mazda or someone with a reliable 8 speed and used it for 2-3 years.

The 6 speed in the Mustang currently was first in the F series...quite well tested and confirmed for durability. It's a ZF based design so it's quite good.

The 10 speed is starting in the Super Duties and the Raptor..you can be sure it'll get beat on there plenty.

And yes the ZF 8HP (or as Dodge calls it, the TorqueFlight 8 speed) is an extremely good transmission, it's the same one found in the M5

I don't see any power increase for '17, for one, I think Ford wants to keep the distance between the Coyote and the Voodoo like it is now. When the 5.0 gets a boost, the 5.2 will too, but it's a little too soon for the latter. I predict +25HP for both motors for '18 :)

I believe** all the updates will be non-power related, though they will contribute to better performance:

New automatic
Magnetic Ride option (can see this being limited to Premium models)

...and some aesthetic changes:

New wheels
New spoiler options (maybe something GT350 derived)

Car Play compatibility (though this will simply be Sync 3 with a firmware update)

... and maybe a slight weight reduction (100-110lbs) via more aluminum

Maybe a new package that's something like a GT Premium with Track Key, Mag ride, and some different wheels, limited color, maybe different hood inserts, or special seating (again, maybe borrowed from the GT350).

** I also believe my neighbors are aliens.

If one looks at the pattern from the previous gen, it's not outrageous to expect some minor changes for the 2017.
-2011: Debut of the Coyote 5.0 @ 412 hp, body carries over from previous year.
-2012: No changes, output continues at 412
-2013: New front fascia and rear, along with other minor tweaks. Output increases to 420.

Since the 2015/16 are basically twins AND competition is stepping up. 2017 would likely see a new front/rear fascia, other minor tweaks, and modest hp increase. But Another likely scenario for 17 would be only minor cosmetic changes for the GT, no HP bump, but a new specialty model (Mach 1 anyone?)

Not until late 2016 at the earliest.
Disagree, MY 1 order banks will open in May or June. The info should be flowing by then.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was suggesting in my post above, with the new "specialty model". The dilemma is making something interesting and "worthy" of the Mach I name, if they don't do a HP bump, though some unique aesthetic treatment and maybe Mag suspension[?] ... or maybe introduce a mild HP bump on the special model first, then later on all models to offset the development, or make it some kind of factory performance kit from Ford Racing.

So let's see ...

2017 Mach I
GTPP standard
Magnetic ride standard
GT350 Recaros and rear wing
Unique model badging

GTPP has new style wheels, matching rear Brembos in black or red

Includes new FR performance kit: new tuning/calibration, intake, dual-mode exhaust system, rated at 455HP, 415lb/ft TQ
