So I ordered the BFG COMP 2 A/S, I only got to drive with them on back to the house, and they seem pretty responsive but can be softer. But heres the crazy part. The tire shop didn't tigthen all my lugnuts good enough. So I left the shop and heard some galloping, and I figured maybe these tires suck. Then I entered the free way and it started wobbling, and though okay maybe they f'ed my alignment. Then within 5 seconds BAAAAAP, my wheel comes off, my lugnuts shoot into the freeway and its rotor grinding rim. At the end of it all, no damage to car or rotar. Only a f'ed up rim, they ordered me a new rim, gave me $$$ to compensate and most importantly no injuries. All happened today.

Well it looks like you lucked out and didn't crash or take out another car/hit guard rail etc. I've seen it before where some kid at a body shop put the tires on with out tightening the lug nuts and the tire came off fukin up the car. Hard to trust even the most reputable shops.

this could be a scary accident if it was a top heavy vehicle with balloon tires and weak roof crush rating. It's hard to imagine they could mess up lugnuts. Impact wrench and then torque wrench. All day long. New hire training must be near zero, or else IQ near zero.

I keep a wrench and socket in my car to occasionally check my lugs for this exact reason.

Had a friend in college had someone try to steal his wheels but gave up when they found he had locking nuts. He didn't notice until he got on the highway and had this happen.

You never know when someone may try to damage your possessions, it's messed up

People who did my wheels did exact opposite. I always check my lug torque to make sure it's exact after having the car worked on (well wheel related), and the last time the lugs were so tight I had to add the 4 foot tall handle of my floor jack to my breaker bar in order to get enough leverage to break the bolts free. My impact wrench was just shaving metal off the nuts.

That would just make the lawyers money and he said they gave some $$$$. Hopefully they learned something because the could have really been a bad situation, glad everyone is ok.

i always watch the tire crew to see if they are starting lugs on by hand and then torqueing them to spec. So far so good

How hard is it to tighten some lug nuts?

How hard is it to get my order right at the drive thru? Apparently both of these can be very difficult for some people.

Ill add this, I went to a hamburger joint and ordered a hamburger, they forgot to put the burger in. Had bread and everything else just no meat. Funny as hell, but that doesn't make a tire fly off. Sounds like we need better training for a job that could potentially hurt or kill someone when its not done properly.

I always keep a lug wrench in my trunk too at all times (a torque wrench with a socket techincally since these lugs need a monster 140-150 ft lbs). You just never know.

I always tighten them by hand if anyone touches the wheels for any type of service that requires taking off the wheels.

I think the INSANE part of this, is when you felt something wasn"t right, and you didn't stop the car and check it out,you just got F'N lucky!

any concerns that heavy items stored in the trunk can become flying objects in an accident? Rear seats fold nearly flat.
