E85 additive to prevent guming ??

I thought this car wasn't flexfuel?

It's not but what does that have to do with running E85?

These cars ARE actually flex fuel capable. The tables are in the programming. Livernois is supposed to have a flex fuel tune setup going. Only a matter of time before all of the tuners are on board

With your logic, ANY vehicle made after 2000 (give or take a few) is "Flex Fuel Capable."

From the factory, the Mustang is not a Flex Fuel vehicle. Can you alter the tune/operating system to sense alcohol? Yes. You can also add a turbocharger if you want. It's "Turbo Capable." lol.

So what?

There are a whole sh!tload of vehicles, GM, Ford, Dodge, etc that share strategies, ECMs, operating systems, etc many with provisions for alcohol built in and inactive. That doesn't make them Flex Fuel. No yellow gas cap. Must be modified to run it.

So Livernois tunes for Ford and I can buy a new Mustang from a Ford dealer with Livernois tune and can run E85?

OR

Livernois....say it with me.....MODIFIED the calibration so the vehicle can run E85.

The Mustang is not a Flex Fuel vehicle but can be modified to run E85 (just like I did with my truck, my 2016 Mustang, and my C7 Corvette......none of which are Flex Fuel vehicles.

The Mustang can also be modified to run a turbocharger, right? Does that mean it is "Boost Ready" from Ford?

Then it was a miscommunication on my part. I would like to run E85 in my car but it is not widely available in my area. Because of this I have been limited to 93octane. Because of the flex fuel CAPABILITY built into the ecu, and a proper tune, I can run both or a mix of the 2. My point was to state that our cars are FLEX FUEL CAPABLE without the need to a flex fuel sensor etc. This is much better than having to run one or the other with a different tune for each. Is this more clear?

This is a much better post. Yes, you don't need a sensor as the ECM will use fuel trims however, the GM calibrations that use fuel trims to compensate suck for multiple reasons. I am not sure if the widebands in the Ford use trims or have a built in alcohol sensor (which doesn't make sense).

If it is possible to use an alcohol sensor it will be much more accurate and react much faster but it looks like there is no provision in the cals for that. Unfortunate.
