does anyone know what the timescale is once they reach Southampton? in the past all my cars have hit Dagenham and been sent out either same day or follwing day, is this the same at Southampton?

How did you get from order to build so fast? Friends in high places? Mine is looking like a year from order to build. Maybe because I'm a convertible?

i wish i had friends in high places, i placed my deposit May 14, some people placed theirs Feb 15 and have their car already, Ford have just made a real shambles of the whole order scheme.

It's all down to when the dealer passed the order onto Ford it was a bit of a free-for-all when Ford opened the order book earlier this year

Everyone is told a year, ford have been building them (RHD) pretty heavily for the past 4 months and will continue until Feb. It seems very 'pot luck' which one comes and when, however it's down to a range of factors, simply put

EB > GT
No additions > any additional extras
Vertes take longer
Stripes take longer
Painted roof takes longer
Sometimes 'bigger' dealerships can put things through quicker.

Ford put the orders in, in batch to ford usa, rather than a 'as and when' they arrive thing.

Ford USA aren't used to producing mustangs 'to order' they produce them as stock cards for the USA so it's a learning curve for them.

Blah blah blah, basically bad planning and bad management of expectations for all.

Sorry; I misread your deposit date! You definitely did not get from order to build quickly.

Picked my car up today (manual, fastback V8 ) ..... and as the weather forecast predicted, it p:censored:ed it down all day, so wasn't able to give the paint a good look over but all seems fine.

In summary; looks great, sounds great, drives very nicely (from the limited amount I could tell given the weather/traffic).

The first things I noticed from the drivers seat were; seats good, visibility good, very easy to drive, position and manoeuvre. Only drove in 'normal' mode but steering felt very nice for an electric system - you definitely know what's going on at the front wheels. Engine pulls nicely even though I was limiting myself to around 3000rpm and 2/3rds throttle. As you would expect torque is good, just bobbling along I really didn't need any more gears than 5th and 6th to keep up with traffic. I'm expecting to be very impressed when I engage sport/race modes. At the legal motorway limit it's barely stretching itself, but the ride is good and even though you can hear the engine/exhaust the noise isn't intrusive.

Drive menus, Sync and Nav systems are good and pretty intuitive. Fit and finish pretty good. Only minor issue I have is the clutch pedal. As I suspected when I sat in the yellow LHD car over the summer, I find the clutch pedal travel too long - it really needs a stop on it to give it a more positive feel. Just pottering along in traffic it's not a problem, but if the driving was a little more enthusiastic then maybe it would be a different story. Brakes are a bit sharp at low speed, you need to modulate the pressure quite carefully in order to be smooth - but I suspect the faster you go the easier it would be. I did about 160 miles on a fairly scenic route back from the dealer, mainly motorway but also town/urban and a good mixture of A/B-roads and averaged about 27mpg, so not too bad at all - I was getting over 30mpg on the motorway (all figures from the trip computer).

Looks-wise I can't fault it. It looks right from every angle. Love the rear lights, shame the front tri-bars don't work but there you go - you can't see them from the drivers seat anyway :)

All in all I've got to say that I'm very impressed, driving it was just so enjoyable. I'm now looking forward to some dry and traffic free miles to really get to grips with what it can do. I'm not and never have been an American car fan so I bought this car gambling that it was going to be a great car, rather than a great American car - and it seems like the gamble has paid off. It's the f:censored:king business! :D

OK, one thing has got me stumped - how do you turn the volume up on the lady in the satnav? In my experience this is the opposite of real-life where you usually want to turn them down, but in this case she's actually not loud enough - maybe it's because she's so small? ;) Anyway, not had a chance to try this yet, but is it the 'System Prompt' volume in the 'Settings' menu?

If its anything like my Kia, you have to adjust the volume using the steering wheel controls whilst the voice is sounding.

This^^. My Datsun is the same, though you can do it through the sat nav menu as well.

If the weather hadn't been so diabolical there would indeed have been some pictures. Unfortunately it'll probably be the weekend before I get the chance to take any.
