Has anyone tried out these replacement leather seat covers. I'm kicking my self for being impatient, and not ordering my car with the redline interior.

These seem like a good solution. I know the entire cover isn't leather, similar to factory, leather faces with vinyl on the sides/back.

They do have a 3year/36000 mile warranty. I have asked the vendor if they will work with my factory seat coolers and heaters. That's the only thing holding me back from ordering right now.

UPDATE: I have ordered the kit, and I'm working the install with the assistance of this thread:

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30323

I ordered a cheap set of hog ring pliers and hog rings on Amazon:
Drake Off Road PLIERSET-E Economy Hog Ring Upholstery Installation Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FS0WF82/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_lpSCwb49AGXR5

Install is very tedious and time confusing, but none it is "hard", just a lot of clips and smoothing as you go.

OEM black leather is for sale, PM me for details.

What's weird in description says works with factory cloth seats but not factory leather.

Not sure about these specifically but Katzkin in general has a great product.

It might have to do with the foam padding underneath and the stitch pattern because both are a little different in the cloth vs leather seats.

Really dislike my base model cloth and have been looking for the red. How hard would these be to install to the base?

This is the same kit that is in my car but a different color. It fits really well and is very comfortable.

Not familiar with how this kit comes but how is it installed? Does it need to be taken to a shop? Or is it pretty simple

I currently have base cloth seats
Thanks

The Katzkins kits will work just fine with the heated/cooled seats as long as you select the option for perforated leather.

It's unlikely Katzkins will create a kit for cars with OEM leather since that market will be pretty small. I'm not sure how much the cloth seats differ from the leather, but if the overall shape of the foam and frame are the same, they should fit.

If you are unfamiliar with automotive upholstery, you're better off taking it to a shop. I installed a Katzkins kit in my DD Sonata a few years ago. The kits include OEM style j-clips, hook and loop strips and ribs for hog rings. The install is pretty involved...I did one seat at a time over the course of about a week, working on them in the evenings after work. I chose to do it myself because the shops in my area all wanted $1,100 to $1,400 for labor, and I wasn't willing to spend that kind of cash.

Good luck.

I just finished installing myself a new katzkin leather kit to replace my base cloth seats. It's 100% DIY. No hog rings no special tools needed. By myself I did both front seats and rears in about 6 hours total time. That's because I took my time. It's a direct factory replacement. It's all held in by clips. Shelby is selling a dark charcoal and gray suede katzkin on their eBay account which is what I bought but they have more. You'll need an exact knife and a couple small torx screwdrivers to remove the plastic on the sides of the front seats. I recommend starting with the rear seats so you get the feel of how the front will be. It's all clips and Velcro that hold the factory cloth in and the katzkin are made to fit exactly the way you take off the cloths.

Good to hear no hog rings are required for the Mustang kit. My Sonata required a total of about 50 of them, which definitely put it on the harder end of the DIY scale. If it's just clips and hook and loop, the install should be pretty easy.

Thanks for all the feed back guys, these cardinal covers are perforated inserts and wings. So they should work for me. Great news about the hog rings, I wouldn't want to mess with those.

This is what I want as well. I'm waiting though as I leased so when the lease is done I'm buying the car. Then I'll upgrade to leather interior

The Austin Katzkin dealer installed my purple and gold seats in less than an hour. Two workers were very competent and even folded up and gave me back my original base cloth covers. The great thing about this was that the installation was free. I really like my Katzkin interior...best appearance mod ever on a "plain-Jane" V-6 convertible.
