I'll let you all know what happens, thank you. May wait to see it in person, at least.

Have a look (if you haven't already) at the Peoples Cars facebook page - they had a Guard GT with Saddle seats and as SteveS says it looked really good with the dark exterior. The seats looked and felt great in the flesh when I was in to see the car.

If they are getting a demo car with black leather ( which must be highly likely) the least they should do is swap the seats out for you. They are the same and it's not that complex. I'd want that plus a sweetener for the pain.

Definitely wait until you've seen it. Of course, colours preferences are a personal thing, but saddle really is a deliciously warm colour, in my opinion.

After waiting so long, it would be even more gutting to not have a Mustang at all

Guess it depends on demo delivery date versus customer delivery date. You wouldn't want seats that 1000 random arses had already sat on ;)

Quick update. I spoke to the dealer yesterday. Yes, they've ordered the wrong car ('human error', 'very sorry', etc etc) and here's what they said the options are:

1. Order another car. 9 months wait. I said no, thanks very much.
2. Return the deposit.
3. Swap the seats. They are expecting their demonstrator at the same time as my car. They said they'll swap the seats out as the demonstrator has black/ebony seats. Simple job, apparently, about an hour and a half, using their Mustang-trained 'master' technicians. I'm hoping that their master technicians are better than their master salesmen.

No word on compensation, but they said we can discuss those things later.

Not sure what to do, but will definitely wait to see the cars when they arrive. They promised they won't let anyone else use the demonstrator until I've seen it and decided. Which is something. But I really don't trust anything they say any more. Nor do I trust those technicians not to balls something else up. Wish I could switch to another dealer.

Again, though, thanks to everyone for all your input.

(p.s. I should add - I asked manager to put all options in writing. He said he would, on Tuesday. He hasn't)

I would go for the seat swap.
I am sure they could offer some sort of compensation but keep it reasonable what you ask for as you would be more likely to get it.

The seat swap is the ideal solution, as long as the random 1000 arses are kept away from the demo car. It's a relatively easy procedure and you don't have to be 'Mustang' trained to achieve it.

As they'll have fixed the problem and offered alternative solutions, use the phrase 'good will' rather than compensation. I'm sure they'll have some goodies that they can put your way.

JonF get all of that in writing mate so that way you are covered and the ebony seats are covered from random backsides.

Option 3 is the option I would personally go for if I really wanted the ebony interior and if all looks in brand new condition.
Changing the seats is a matter of 4 bolts for each front seat and the a couple of wire connections underneath. Back seats will be about 6 bolts so yeah about 1.5-2hrs is fine and as long as they cover your door sills to protect them when taking out the seats then all should be ok :)

Wouldn't it be funny if the demo car was a colour that didn't have saddle as an option...:D:D

How about taking the demo car in place of yours - as long as you liked it and spec was the same of course?
