Ok so I live in Las Vegas and all we really have here is 91 octane fuel. I also have an X pipe and Roush Exhaust. I was never really thrilled about how the car ran. Sure it felt decently powerful but it wasn’t smooth at all. It felt jerky at times and not very responsive to heavy throttle. The higher the RPM's climbed the more sloppy it felt.
So today, I decided to try something. Luckily we have a few gas stations here that sell 100 octane race fuel. My tank was empty so I went to the station and filled up 4 gallons of 100 octane and 8 gallons of 91. This comes out to 94 octane. I drove home, parked the car, and disconnected the negative terminal on the battery and left it off for 45 minutes.
This car feels AMAZING now! It is 100 percent more smooth and so much more responsive! This car NEEDS 93 octane or higher fuel. If you are someone out west who runs 91 octane try and find some race gas to mix in. You will be floored on how much more smooth and responsive the car is especially at higher RPM's. It feels like a brand new car.
Even though my mods are just and exhaust and x pipe, maybe the computer still needs to be reset to truly adapt to them. Im also running a wide open grille which allows alot more air flow. Even the exhaust note sounds SOO much better. It doesn’t crackle and pop anymore. It is very smooth.
If you run 91 octane give this a shot and see what you think. I feel like I have a new car now and Im so happy! Only downside is 100 octane here is 8 bucks a gallon :(
