MUSTANG GT PP-435HP,TQ,400.0-60 4.4,1/4mile [email protected] 3817
camaro ss 455hp,tq455.0-60 3.9,1/4mile [email protected] 3760
corvette stingray 460hp,tq465.0-60 3.9,1/4mile [email protected] 3436
Ok this is from car&driver.the vette weighs 324lbs.less than the camaro, and the mustang is 57lbs.more than the camaro.HOW in the hell is the camaro just as fast as the vette?this is another reason why myself and others say gm send out RINGER cars.to me this shows the camaro that was used in this test has well over 500hp to get these type of numbers that are equal to what the stingray is doing, while weighing 324lbs.more.this is Garbage Motors at its best.:tsk::rant:

There's your answers. Also, the LT1 may only have a small HP advantage over the Coyote, the torque difference is quite large. The gearing and RPM limiter difference helps the Coyote past 1st gear, but the quicker 60 foot in the Camaro and Corvette (easier for the average driver in the Camaro and Corvette aka magazine drivers) drastically help in the quarter. Please stop with this ringer bs, it makes Mustang owners look bad.

The A8 Vette is consistently in the 11s. They are not even. The Camaro is lighter and has a lot more power. Why is it hard to think that it's faster.

look at what you said.the issue is not that its faster to the mustang.the issue is its right there with the vette.

The Camaro is going to handle the mustang in any straight line acceleration, stock for stock.

Because they have the same motor........one is faster because one is lighter. Again. Where is the issue?
And one is rowing it's own gears and the other has a modern, high speed, torque multiplying transmission.

It must blow his mind how a "heavy pig" like the Scat Pack Challenger can even come close to Stingray numbers when it's nearly 700 lbs heavier.

(12.4 @ 113-114 is about the norm for a stock 392 on stock rubber as a point of reference)

Actually, I did net torque sweeps. The 3.55 auto mustang will be faster from 2nd gear on, or should. The info is in the massive locked camaro vs mustang thread of you're interested. Last 15 pages or so.

EDIT: the end result was basically the LT1 output more in first gear, however the longer gears ended up hurting total net torque output. I got an equation describing the net torque curve, integrated from the beginning RPM (which changes gear to gear) to redline, and multiplied it out by the gear ratios. The Camaro gear ratios are closer together in the auto trans than the Mustang, so after a shift, it's higher in RPMs relative to it's redline. The Mustang has more RPM to work with as the gear differences are spread out more in the trans (effectively giving a longer RPM band to work with in the next gear), as well as a higher final drive ratio.
