Did this yesterday after my shop forman nagged me about it for months.

Gotta say, it made me enjoy driving the car a lot more.

I did pulled it out yesterday. I've had a stiff clutch before and this one wasn't too bad.

I feel like the engagement point is right at the top without the spring and I'm not a fan of that. With the spring in, the engagement seemed to be more in the middle of the depression.

That would be easier. I just compressed the spring by hand and pulled it out. Then I used regular mini vise grip pliers, not needle nose to compress it to get it back in.

No tools are needed to do this. Push the pedal in with one hand and slide the spring assembly off to the right with your other. Don't let the pedal out while the spring assembly is still half way on and you'll be fine. Channel locks or other tool are completely unnecessary. Literally takes like 15 seconds.
What part should I be gripping the spring assembly with? Either I'm embarrassingly weak or mine just won't budge.

I just grabbed the black piece that connects to the pedal arm and started pulling it off towards the passenger side. Just make sure once it starts coming off to not let the pedal out.

I gave it another whirl focusing on this piece instead of the spring itself and it was much easier.

I fully depressed the clutch with my left arm, pulled the spring assembly using the piece indicated above until it hit the brake pedal. It still wouldn't come off cleanly at this point so I slowly released the clutch pedal keeping the spring assembly in the palm of my hand. That way, it flies into my palm rather than the into the nearest eye ball.

Thanks!

I finally did this today. At first I wasn't sure I was going to like it. It was interesting backing out of the garage. But, by the time I got to the end of my street I was in love. There is a pretty noticeable increase in the pressure it takes to push the peddle in, more than I expected based on the comments here. But, the lack of jerky starts and 1-2 shifts are well worth it. Like many others I had begun to think that I forgot how to drive stick, That feeling is gone too.

Just to put my 2 cents in. I was kind of questioning if I should do this or not on my 15. Since day one I haven't been to impressed with the clutch feel on this car. But after reading all of this thread yesterday, after work I just laid under there and pulled it out with my hand. Make sure to move your head out of the way. It came shooting out and a little plastic piece broke. But I am here to tell you. Best decision iv made so far. It now feels so much better now. I would recommend pulling that spring out and toss it over the fence. I am a little concerned about the inch or so movement in the pedal now though.

Don't be concerned. It makes no difference what so ever.

Has this ever been confirmed by a Ford mechanic? Absolutely no premature clutch/bearing wear due to this removal?

Have you read this entire thread? This didn't just start with the '15 year model.
