Anyone thinking the numbers won't meet the hype needs to do some research or some math.
Or wake up and smell reality, 99% of the buyers aren't professional race car drivers, and if they were, they wouldn't be racing this thing stock anyway. So if anyone dumps it because it "doesn't stack up" they are nothing more than a poseur keyboard racer. And if they dump it based on 1/4 mile times alone, they are buying the wrong car anyway

After a few laps behind the wheel at Road America, the GT 350 meets my needs and expectations. I couldn't care less if Car and Driver goes a tenth faster in the quarter than Motor Trend. The only numbers that matter to me are the ones from my butt dyno.

Step away from the 1/4 mile times and think road course times. What if this car is no faster, or what if its slower than a Z/28?

@ Spa2k seat of the pants is always important, but there are a ton of cars that can supply seat of the pants performance effectively.

OK, then try this: I've been racing and testing cars for a long time, and I can pretty much tell within a lap if a car is deserving of my attention. This one is.

Then you have an extra 20k or so in your bank account to make it faster. The numbers don't add up to be anything less than what's expected besides that Ford never said the car was going to go X time around Y track.

I don't care if it traps 115.. I'm not buying this to be the fastest, its the experience, and that is coming from someone that never liked Mustangs previously.

It really doesn't tell me anything. Unless you want to share credentials to back up that statement. Racing how, what, when, where, and testing cars for who, what, why, etc…

I think the general consensus from most everyone who has driven this car is that its awesome…right? Only negative thing I have heard is maybe the steering by some of the media, and the other complaint is not enough time in the car, ha.

Question is…is that any different than the way everyone felt about the Z/28 or GT4 or a miata? Those cars all deliver, but none were toting like Ford has that their car would compete with the like of a GT3 for example (class up), they just let the numbers do the speaking for them. So far we haven't seen crap.

Unless you got some inside info on your track day that you would like to share?

Anyway, I'm just stirring the pot while we all wait.

Thats what is cool about this car…really the first Mustang to bring in a whole new segment of buyer.

Which I think somebody out there said about the Boss 302... And the GT500... And the Mustang Cobra...

I agree it's the most technologically advanced Mustang ever, but those other special edition 'Stangs weren't slouches either and attracted people from elsewhere.

the numbers wont matter. this car has magneride, lighter front end, stronger body structure, 8.25k rev limiter, roughly 100+ hp over a gt and probably underrated, lighter wheels, better tires, oil coolers, recaros, better/lighter transmission and shifter, better brakes, and aerodynamically engineered for down force. its better than my 15 gt and im getting it. Ford isn't putting out numbers bc the car will speak for itself.

I agree, but I hold firm and say not to the extent of this car. At the end of the day, my guess is statistically even this car will be owned primarily by Mustang buyers.

Let's say performance data gets released prior to delivery of your car and it's not close to what people were hoping for...everything else checks out, that great sound, great handling, etc, but the actual performance numbers just don't play out compared to the competition.

Do you keep it, or pass? Curious as to what is the consensus here.

Discuss
If all you cared about were performance numbers, you could have bought a 10 year old Nissan GT-R and probably been quicker in acceleration, or any number of other cars. Hell, I won't be surprised if the last GT500 will still be quicker in a straight line than the new GT350.

Buying a performance car should never be about the performance numbers, it should the level of enjoyment you get out of driving it.

I'm going to add just one small but key addition to your statement... my opinion but you probably had the same gist
