I installed my GT 350 wheel on my auto car.

I love it but still think it would be better thicker all round(only the "flat bottom/leather part is thick).

I wanted to see if I could have the stock one done since it is just sitting there.

I am also waiting on the one I ordered for the manual car at on3 so I may "get it fat" before I install(if I get one).

I called redline since another forum member mentioned they had asked him to send his but

all I got was a no"voice mail set up" after it rings.

I stopped by a local "interior car upholstery" guy who said he could do it for $80 bucks!

He will even swap the leather for something nicer(he said it would be hard reusing the stock

leather). He said he could even order the alacantra if I wanted. He gave me two choices as to how thick I wanted it.I chose the lesser of the options.

I dropped it off yesterday and I stopped by today to see how it was going.

It looks really good! He said it would be ready tomorrow.

I will take pictures when he is done.

I figure it was worth taking a chance for $80!

If he does a good job may be he and I can go into business since I may have a couple of spare wheels soon. lol

I can always charge a refundable "core" if anybody wants one but don't want their car sitting there "wheeless" .lol

I am sure you can always find someone local your self.
Lol
So I stopped by today but he was not done.
He said he still needs to smooth it out.
It looks great so far.It is 5.5 inches in circumference compared to I think 4.5 when I measured it stock

.
He called later that it was done so I should be able to take some comparison pictures on monday when I pick it up.

I also received email form Redline. They don't do the flat bottom mod any more but can also thicken the wheel.
I asked for a quote but still waiting.I suspect their work will be better than "my guy" so I may send them the other GT350 wheel I ordered (still waiting kite every one else) If I ever get it.
lol
My guy is only asking $80.

Did your guy wrap the new leather over the old? I would like to see what it looks like when he smoothes out the leather.

No, at least he had said he would take the original leather off, add the padding and then wrap it with the new leather .
The new thickenss felt very nice! The padding he used though felt kind of soft .
I and looking forward to seeing it as he said it was going to be smooth when he is done .
If it is not ,I think it was worth a shot for $80 since the wheel was available .
If I am going to attempt to thicken the GT350 wheel I would definitely send it off to Redlline

I wonder if when installing the new steering wheel if it will be possible to change it so that volume buttons are on the left side of the wheel instead of the right

I'm pretty sure it's not possible.

99 % sure you can't unless you do a lot of modifications. The buttons are angled for their side. If they were rectangular then maybe

Yes but you can find it cheaper.
But if they have it in stock now I would think most would be willing to pay a little bit more.

Id like to see that as well. I love the GT350 wheel but not the Alcantara. I'd much rather have the black leather with red stitching all around.

I'd call them to be certain it really is in stock before ordering.
