Definitely not a fuel efficiency issue. An OHC design naturally saves fuel unless GM found a way to fowl that up too.
They spent $820,000,000 on LT R&D. The cost to engineer a V8 OHC now would be 3 times that amount. They should have started in the 90's like Ford. It was cheaper then and they have 20 years experience in Modular Engine design.
The $820m alone is enough to stuff an OHC program. They would have almost $3 billion dollars into V8 developement all at once. One thing is for sure... they need to think of something. The OHV will be obsolete in a few years at the OEM level.

Not made up, it's been discussed here. How could a GT ever turn a lap just as fast as a Z51. It's in the magazine, it should be all good...

It wasn't just fuel efficiency. It was emissions.
That's my point. Anybody be can dirty power.
But the power needed from GMs DOHC v8 that could actually legally be put into a mass market vehicle was sorely lacking.
In other words, as I said before, they couldn't make the power they needed with it. So it got the boot.

So? Is this a misprint or was there some crazy circumstances the Z51 needed to go through? Rain maybe? Different driver and different day? Although that never matters anywhere else... The GT was a 2015 and the Corvettes were older. Probably not fair then? Maybe I'm making this up...
I find it hilarious that this happened... The mighty 1LE is faster than the Stingray too!!!! Truly a feat worth mentioning...
According to that list, the GTPP nearly lapped Willow faster than a Pre-2012 Z06/Z07 too.

The Mustang and Corvette are getting closer together. Soon there will be no room for a Camaro comparison without a Corvette as well.
Be real... that was a fully loaded GTPP Premium... It's not the standard we are looking for. It's a good indication of what a GT can easily do but not the whole story.

This forum is pretty sad for buying into this guy's fabricated stories and conspiracy theories.
As for the z28 vs GT350, it looks like the GT350 is significantly slower than the z28 if you watch some of those hot laps done at laguna seca. I'm seeing around ~1:41 laps for the non-R. Prepare for a massive let down, ford fanboys. The mighty GT350R might BARELY beat the z28. history is destined to repeat itself ala s550 GTPP vs 1LE.
