I want to paint my brembos but I would like to get some tips from you guys to get best result.

How long to wait BTW each coat?

G2 or duplicate paint?

Do I use clear coat?

I have painted calipers before but I always have gotten brush marks left on the caliper. Any other tips I'll gladly take.

Thanks

When I did my other car I used G2 and the sponge type brush. The calipers didn't get any brush marks and they still looked good when I sold it two years later.

Powdercoating would be best but a G2 kit applied with a sprayer would be a close second. You can mix the kit like you would then add it to the sprayer and spray on. Once mixed you only have a few hours before it will harden up on you, so make sure all your prep work is done and you are ready to spray.

Here is a link to the sprayer I mentioned.

I powder coated my last calipers on my Mustang but it was to much work. I had to take them out and ship to mikethepowdercoater and then reinstalled and bleed the brakes.

I've been doing quite a bit of research on this myself since I plan to paint my Brembos within the next week or two. From what I've read, G2 gets much better reviews than Duplicolor. Duplicolor didn't get bad reviews, but the G2 reviews were all stellar so I'll be going with G2 personally. I also purchased some new, thick vinyl Brembo decals that I'll be tossing on there once the paint dries. I think a clear coat after the application of the Brembo decals would be a good idea.

G2 is an epoxy paint (you mix two liquids to activate) where Duplicolor is an aerosol I believe. I liked G2 on previous cars so I didnt have to mask everything. I would just remove the caliper so I get better angles to paint at.

Yes put a few coats of clear over a high temp vinyl emblem to seal it in. VHT has some high temp clear coat

I'm assuming the G2 being an epoxy paint is what makes it superior to VHT or Duplicolor, correct? I know that G2 will harden after a couple hours once the paint and other chemical are mixed together. Is this the case with other brands as well? Duplicolor is generally comes as an aerosol but I did find a Duplicolor "kit" at my local automotive store that was brush-on but I think I'm going to hold out and order the G2 online since I can't find it anywhere locally and the G2 has gotten better reviews. Also, the Duplicolor kit box said it's resistant up to about 500 degrees which seems a tad low compared to the other brands. VHT claimed to be resistant up to like 900 which I'm guessing is in line with G2.

I used G2, provided brush and all, and got perfect results. Very pleased.

Yeh Duplicolor looks like a 1 step ceramic paint while G2 is a 2 part epoxy. Probably not a huge difference but I would go G2.

Did you take all the wheels off at once or what method worked best for you?

Some have said to pick up a sponge style brush for the g2 kit. Are people just putting the brembo decals on the front calipers(I'd assume this)
