Just a little update.

As i live in Germany and things always have to be complicated, today i had my TUV appointment to get the wheels "approved". They were and absolutely no issues at all :headbang:

Wheels approval???
Yes.

In Germany, if new wheels comes with a "ABE" one does not have to do anything. If the wheels comes with anything else, they needs to be approved by TUV and said wheels entered into the registration docs.

Complicated, as with everything in this country

Patrik, it could be complicated in Germany but at last you get you mod approved!
Here it is complicated also, but then you don't get your mod approved :-/

I am really surprised! I though it was only in Germany and Belgium where there were problems with mods?! Clearly not

I am surprised that you are surprised :D because here we always speak of the 'easyness' of modding in germany!
It's the reason because all import cars are homologated in germany... they will never be accepted in italy - and also with germany homologation, here DMV wants to check it and re-homologate

Same thing in the Netherlands. Every import that doesn't have a European type approval is first individually routed through TuV to get a German 'Brief'. And then because it has been admitted in another European country the Dutch Department of Motorvehicles is forced to accept it because of European regulations.

It's basically a loop hole, but it's a great one, because without a German Brief you can forget about registering a US car here.

Actually TuV opened several offices in the Netherlands to handle these registrations :D

Don't think there's a loop hole in Germany if one wanted to avoid all the "red tape" re mods. It's just so stupid.....one can go out and spend BIG money on wheels and other mods only to be denied approval when fitted.

One problem is that for example one would buy a nice new Mustang in France. Then fit the wheels and mods you wanted. All hanky dory. But then you move to Germany....you will have big problems at TUV as every mod needs to be approved by TUV....makes me soooo angry with all this paperwork and making-life-difficult things that no-one likes, but yet no one does anything to change it! :frusty:

It beats paying 100.000+ euro for a GT. I would love to live in Germany!

Actually, all you have to have is an address where a GT would be registered....one can still live some place else ;)

Not according to the Dutch tax office. If you are not registered yourself as well at that address they will slap you with the 60.000 euro new car tax after all plus 100% fine.
