I wasn't sure where to post this question, so I apologize in advance if this is not the right location.

A co-worker noticed something hanging down from the front of my car this morning. I went out to take a look and this is what I found. It's a strip of rubber the appears to be glued to the underside of the bumper. It's too flimsy to be an air dam, I think. It looks like it might be in place to protect the bumper from curbs and parking stops, but I don't know.

Any ideas? And how important is it? I went ahead and pulled it off the remainder of the way and threw it in the trunk.

My son's v6 has that piece as well...rubber curbs really weird for an air dam. Maybe the grilles don't flow air unlike the GT grills hence the need for one. AFAIK, GT does not have that piece; not sure if ECOs and v6s share that same piece  but both share the same upper grille at least.

It's on all the cars. The PP cars are routed a little different though. I believe you have to replace the whole underneath plastic piece to fix it. The rubber is plastic welded on. You should be able to take it in under warranty I would think.

Do you happen to know what it is or what it does Tcstang? Is it something I should be concerned about right away (if even at all)?

GT PP cars do not have that piece.

OP, just get it replaced under warranty. Should be with no question, just show the dealer the picture and why you just removed it. I wouldn't want to drive with that piece hanging down either so I too would have just taken it off.

Yeah, I figured it was better that I remove it the rest of the way so that there wasn't a chance of it coming off while driving and potentially beating something else up in the process (let alone being lost on the road somewhere). I've got some more IOU's from the dealership, and an oil change coming up, so I'll just have the wife run it in and get it all done at once.

It's an air damn. If it's not on I doubt it hurt anything. I'd have it fixed under warranty though.

In this video CJ talks about how it's routed on the PP cars

it's at the 1:21 mark.

Interesting...

My base with PP does not have it. Belly pan looks different too. No groove on mine for one. Probably also means a regular St0-N-Go kit will fit just fine on my car.

Mine fell out as well. I was kinda impressed - I had 2 different people follow me home to let me know I had something hanging from my car, and someone else flagged me down when at a stop light. A tad bit of faith in humanity restored....

I think mine came loose when I hit a large bouncing piece of semi-tire on the highway, although I'm sure I put it over a couple curbs as well.

After it fell out the first time it came back out very easily. By the end it wouldn't stay on at all so I just yanked it. But, when I was under the car changing my oil yesterday I took a look, and all the clips that hold it in place are fine. I may try to see if a junkyard near here has a 6G to grab it from.

New, I wasn't able to find just the rubber part - you have to buy the entire lower plastic cover, and it's $140.

You can drive without it fine.

In the CJPony parts video, he was showing the forward groove where it goes on the performance pack cars, but I'm not sure that is correct. On my V6, it was in the forward track as well...

Yeah now my curiosity has peaked...my spliiter needs to be replaced by the dealership and I am now hoping they get the one without that rubber lip, which is exactly what I have now.

Maybe Premium cars with PP option has that rubber piece. Maybe same goes for the non-PP Premium cars as well. Maybe someone with a standard base no-frills GT can chime in with what theirs come with.

Apparently, my beast does not need one.

Correct but at 1 min and 21 seconds he points out that if you have the pp your air damn will go here.
