I want to do an exhaust but I don't like the sound on any of the videos I've watched. Most sound good to me on startup but when they get on it I hear this raspy sound I don't like. I want a deep, throaty growl. Is it just that most of these videos are shot on cell phones and go pros with low quality microphones that distort at higher volumes? If not, what do I need to get that sound? Or is just not gonna happen with a smaller V8 like ours? Thanks.

They will also be raspy toward the end of the rpm range
If you want deep get magnaflow street or competition.

Might I suggest you check out the X-muffler from Bassani. Not raspy at all. I think the reason is the muffler is under the car and there are long pipes after the muffler. Rather than having the mufflers at the end of the system they are in the middle.

it's not a truck soo it's gonna have some rasp. getting a kit with an hpipe is only way to reduce it. You need to hear it in person. Rasp in person is different from rasp picked up by a cheap ass cell phone mic or camera.

Mbrp race doesn't have that. It also comes with an H pipe. I love it.

If going with Magnaflow you're going to need to consider the drone.

Why is the mbrp so much less expensive than the other catback systems? Seems pretty nice from what I've seen.

I have a Lethal resonator delete h-pipe with Magnaflow mufflers welded in. Just a deep tone with zero rasp and zero drone. It's not terribly loud though, which is what I was after.

Borla S Type has more of the throaty sound than raspy. I'd actually like it to be a bit more raspy.

A couple threads down a member posted up a custom exhaust with some jone maxflow mufflers and a X pipe. Sounds pretty good with little rasp. I'm sure if you throw an H pipe on it would give it what you're looking for. Check out his thread there are also videos in it.

it like it's stolen
Borla Touring cat back system offers great sound that isn't raspy at higher rpm range. I myself prefer the touring due to the fact that I'm not one for trying to talk over the exhaust all the time.

Agreed, Borla Touring is a great exhaust that will not drone you out of car. Nice and deep, although I also have Kooks long tubes.
