Perhaps dumb, but a serious question.

40 miles??? Woooow!!

Yeah there is no reason for them to drive your car for a dash cam...Maybe to test to see how it functions for a mile, I would be okay with. But 40 miles? You being in socal, I'm sure you noticed how high gas prices spiked over the weekend. Make them fill your tank at the very least.

I would probably punch the driver in the face...Okay no I wouldn't because of possible incarceration lol, but I would feel like it.

Yelp them a review, that'll definitely make them listen!

Something needs to be done to make this right! Don't let them get away with toying around with your baby for 40 miles, because a LOT can happen in those 40 miles. I would demand some sort of compensation. Don't go in there acting all crazy tho, the calmer and more efficient you are with your demands, typically the better.

40 miles is a VERY long test drive . That is completely unacceptable. I would definitely going forward do what everyone is suggesting, and tell them you are logging the miles, etc.

This.......

Can you tell if someone has used Track Apps? Or line lock, or any other related racing-type things I know nothing about? (It is just my DD)
Dropped my car off for stereo component install over the weekend and, by calculation of the odometer (kept track of it), it was taken on a little joyride (40 miles used). I called the installer out on the miles used (by text) and am awaiting a reply.

And I am not feeling up to providing further details at this time as I am a bit perturbed and upset right now, sorry. Hope you understand. Thank you.
This is really Uncalled for by this installer...... And I'm being nice about the way I have posted this to you........ But I would put in a Different way to the installer, if they did that to my Mustang...... Maybe they just thought that you are a women we will take your car for a ride, and that you would never Notice the mileage.... Sorry to hear this....... John

Agree with everyone else here. I would get yourself riled up and confront that owner in person, not over text. No one would expect their car to be driven like that, not for any install.

They owe you at least 2 gallons of gas.

A $10 gift card and a write up (250 word count minimum) of their 40 mile drive experience would smooth things over for me.

Or some free install of whatever you want off their shelves. Imagine if word got out that Tony's Auto Installs was joyriding every nice car coming in? That would do a number on the Yelp page!

Why do people think this is acceptable and/or they'll get away with it? Looking forward to hearing how this plays out. I hope you get a satisfactory resolution.

lol, what is this? the fourth grade? I don't think the installer is going to agree to a short story. But I would demand at least half of the install costs back.

Get one of these and leave in in your glove box. You can see every where they took your car and even the MPH they traveled. You can buy the cheaper kid one and it still works just as good.

In a direct discussion with the manger of that dubious establishment, ask for a discount and mention your recourse to "YELP" and the Better Business Bureau if it is not given. Sorry that this has happened to you but shady dealers have been taking advantage of women drivers for ever. Demand satisfaction.

Dont only premiums get the mykey option?
No all 2015s get the mykey

I would demand a refund or something. That is unacceptable in my opinion.

Keep us updated! I promise you that if they don't remediate the situation, your fellow forum members will do everything they can to help you.

I recently read a thread about a guy on here buying an exhaust from another fellow member and the seller was basically scamming him. The response that the forum members did was unbelievable!! They went as far as letting other forums know about him, posting it on facebook, getting his phone number lol, and other info about the scammer that was appalling to me.

Not a similar situation, but....

Moral of the story, the people here are great and will help you if you let them:thumbsup:

Maybe. That's what it'll take to smooth it over with me. That's exactly why...its unacceptable and it takes a lot of nerve to joy ride someone's car behind their back and get away with it and even more courage to write about it.

Discounts are too easy and wont upset his day but writing about his business credibility will. If he's not down with it then I'll spend my time to write about them to triple B and never have anything good to say about them from that point on.

If a business owner can do that for me, I'd shred it up and go about my business with my gas card and treat it as if it never happened.

Discounts never seem to remedy the situation for me and I've come to the conclusion from all my lessons learned this is what it'll take for me to smooth over the situation. It might or might not work but will most certainly try if I'm ever involved in a situation such as the OP.
