Since when is a fully loaded R 75k? And what dealers are asking for adm and what they are actually getting are two different things.
Check the price sheet on the main 350 section. The 350 us $47,870. The R upgrade is $13,500. Destination/delivery 825. Gas guzzler tax $1,300. That's $63,500 with none of the packages; just the base car. Add all the other options- black roof, stripes, electronics package, car cover etc. you're at $69k.

Ok $69 not $75k, I guess you cannot add the track/tech packs to the R. Still the point remains.

I've heard and read the reports. I've also been around this stuff for longer than some on this forum have been breathing. The retailers shoot for the moon with a car like this asking 10K, 20K, 30K, over the MSRP and some on internet forums erroneously assume that they are getting it. Nonsense.
First, there are only 9000 some members here. There are how many hundreds of millions of 16+ year old people out there? People seem to like to use a forum of enthusiasts to represent the general public when there is little correlation as this is a microcosm of the public.

Johnny Customer who makes $400-500k a year doen't care if the car cost him $20k more, if he wants a Gt350 and to be the first on the block for bragging rights he will buy it. He doesn't know any better or about ADM or production numbers etc. being discussed here. You merely assume everyone in the public has this knowledge people here do which is simply untrue. You also assume people have common sense and are good with their money which is generally untrue as well.

The same forum people talk about older models still on the lots- Boss and GT500 which they said oh they won't sell them with a $20k ADM and then come back and post the dealer did get it. For every one educated person on the subject there are 9 uneducated who see a shiny Shelby and must have it ASAP for whatever it costs.

And technically NO ONE is getting anything as taking money up front would be illegal. The most a dealership can take now is a deposit, and MANY here reported they put an order that got sold to someone else as you are not signing a binding contract either for any specific car or price.

50k for the base, 63.5k for the R here in the US.

I would be hard pressed to pay anymore than MSRP for the car, maybe 5k over for the 350R. At 160k canadian (125k US), I would be looking at a lightly used GT3 or a M3+GT350 or something along those lines.

yeah the point is 69k+30-35kADM (asking, not actually a verified sale) is still much less than 125k

Can't just round up 5k here..20k there and draw the conclusion that 125k for a souped up mustang is somehow the norm down here in the states, taht is simply not the case.

There are only a select handful of baboons who are going to pay 125k for a modern mustang

I get that but remember this is Canada were talking about in this thread and OP. How many total of the 5000/500 Rs are even going across the border? Who knows. Maybe very very few where someone will pay to get one of those few.

That may be true, but the population of Canada is less than the population of California alone. And of that population, I'm guessing not a huge majority are interested in a 50k+ mustang.

Don't know but you only need 1 person who really wants one and has a winter car where this would be summer use only.

One dingdong willing to pay it does not make it the going rate for all cars, that was the point I was trying to make. All this fear mongering driven by a handful of extraordinary cases isnt productive for anyone interested in the cars.

In my search I was quoted as high as 50-100k over sticker, but I knew that did not change the landscape as a whole for the car and still secured a car at MSRP

Those dealers who were asking those numbers likely still have their allocation unsold and/or have since adjusted their asking to realistic numbers.

If I could afford a GT4 there is no question about what I would purchase. ;)

It will be interesting to see what the secondary market does. I'll bet a bunch of early GT350 buyers will take delivery and immediately put them up for resale at a premium - especially if the magazine testers are foaming at the mouth in their reports about the car.

car sales in canada is usually about 1/10 of the states.

So it is fairly safe to assume about 500 non-R and 50 R will be coming to Canada for the model year. bc/on/qc will usually get about 3/4 of the national allocation.

The folks at in the Commercial Strategy team over at Ford Performance don't like the fact that some dealers actually pull this kind of crap. But, there is admittedly nothing they can do at the moment because of the way the seeding structure is between the Manufacturing and the dealerships.

But, a little birdy from there does say there are some changes coming in the future.

I say it can't come soon enough.

It has nothing to do with bird seed. It has to do with the law, and the dealers - as independent franchisees - will not let it change. Plus, just as the Dodge dealers did with the Hellcats, Ford dealers will find a way around any public-relations "restrictions" on pricing or distribution from the manufacturer. On the outside, Ford executives may be showing concern, but on the inside they're laughing all the way to the bank.

They are most definitely not laughing about it. It is being taken seriously.

For some it should feel like impending doom for the way they are used to doing things.

But, hey, its not like it will happen overnight.

What do you really know about the weather in Canada assuming that you have not spent much time up here?

Very diverse landscape to say the least with about 5000 miles from one coast to another. Try a drive from Port Hardy to St. John's Nfld?

My son and I just purchased an "R" model today in Canada so we are very excited. Unfortunately we had to pay an ADM for this car but very happy to do so based on the very limited cars in the region that we are in.

Having said that I came across a dealer in Canada that seems to be willing to sell an "R" model at MSRP or close to that price so any Canuck friends that are interested please PM me and I will reply back to you based on your order of sequence and will provide you with the information for the dealership in question?

Have a great night!
