Hey guys,

I am starting to prepare for my first winter driving the Mustang so i am trying to figure out which is the very best winter tire for the Mustang. Mine is a V6.

Also, i have ordered the 18" wheels but i guess it is ok to get 17" winter rims and tires, right?

I am new in Canada so i know nothing about winter tires

EDIT: I can not use studded tires, they are not allowed in Toronto...

Thanks for the help

I can use the info too, first winter in my Mustang, born and raised in France lol
I heard Blizzaks were the best, Nokian is supposed to be a great brand too

Nokian Hakkapellita tires have a strong following in rally circles for good reason. Blizzaks are generally pretty good, but only have "special" winter tire compound for the first half of their tread depth. Once worn past that, they are less effective. OTOH, I've had good luck with studded Firestone Winterforce tires, but my application combines that with AWD & 3 very effective limited slip differentials, so YMMV...

I drove the Blizzaks (LM-32) last winter in Toronto (got my car in December) , rock solid, highly recommended ;-)

I bought a set of blizzzaks but yeah, they only have half the tread with winter compound. I had Nokians a few years ago, which were decent. My personal favourite is still Michelin X Ice 3's all the way

I use Nokians on my Volvo XC90 3.2 and can only confirm they are great. Good grip, low noise, price ok, durability top. 235/60x18. Will definitely go for Nokian as well on the Stang next winter.

I keep hearing some dumb "Oh you're getting a Mustang ?! You're gonna hate driving it in winter", but I can't believe that with some good winter tires, all the electronic these cars have now, that it would be "horrible" to drive it around in winter.... Right ? lol

It's gonna be my DD, and I live like 8kms from work, and it's in town, so it's not like I was driving out in the country for 50kms each way every day...

I was able to negociate "cost price" for my set of winter tires when I ordered my Mustang, so I will probably go with the Nokian or the Michelin (I'm French so why not buy French when it's among the best :) )
thanks

LOL, guys from my work said "You will HAVE to buy a new car in winter, you will not be able to drive the Mustang!"

Ok, then: [ame]

In my case i do live 40km away from my work and i will take the highway every day. I can't wait for next winter to pass so i can prove them wrong...

Because they are more expensive and bring nothing extra. Nokian is finnish (ex division of Nokia by the way) and they are quite used to snow and cold weather overthere... But understand you're supporting the FR industry, have a Belgian beer  when making up your mind...

So, looks like these Nokians are the very best, but which model is the ideal for the Mustang? I see there are different models and some have studs which i can't use in Toronto...

I hear a lot about the Michelin X Ice XI3‎, are the Nokians really better?

Nokian WR A3 are the ones I'll put on my stang...They are Aston Martin ok, meaning it should work out fine on our 'Ford's' :D. Up to 240km/h....ok for the Ecoboost...
